Breastfeeding moms: do you find ways to involve Daddy in the feedings?
I have been reading a lot of articles that say that you need to find a way to make Daddy feel like he is needed when you are breastfeeding.
Anyone have DH change the diaper and bring the baby to you (and back to crib) for night feedings? What else does he do for you?

With Emma Derek never helped breastfeed but he was always there for a diaper change before or after or to take her when she fell asleep so I didn't have to get up. With Jeremy he would occupy Emma so I have time with Jeremy.

He was in charge of burping afterwards so I could pump the other side (I was doubling my supply so I would only nurse on one side). He didn't change them unless it was absolutely necessary. He never felt the need to be included in nursing. He did like the burping part and then having the baby fall asleep on his chest.
eta. Nightfeedings were my responsiblity. My husband works on a construction site. The last thing I would want is him to be tired handling live electrical wire.

I had A LOT of problems with BFing and my DH was so supportive. He was willing to spend whatever money we needed to and encouraged me to never give up. When I had to use a SNS he helped me get set up every time and went to many of my LC appointments with me. If I didn't have so many issues I don't know how involved DH could have been other than being super supportive or being in the room with us when nursing, etc. I think the greatest thing is to have a DH supportive of your decision to BF. That in itself makes him involed IMO.

DH helps out when he can changing diapers, rocking him, but I didn't specifically try to make him feel needed. My DH isn't the type to feel left out or be upset that he's not able to feed him. I also never had DH get up in the middle of the night because he has to get up so early for work and I'm a SAHM. But on the weekends he would take DS sometimes so I could go back to sleep.
