Breastfeeding recommendations - Any books?
Can anyone recommend a book that they found helpful regarding breastfeeding? I want to breastfeed while I am at home on maternity leave and then try to pump at work if I can. I would appreciate any websites or books that would be helpful!

breastfeeding for dummies is VERY straight foward. Go to the library and skim through some.
I took a class also. then when I have specific questions I do searches on line.
In the beginning a lactation consultant visited me (free through the county here in NC), that was GREAT. I also go to mommy and me and the LC from the hospital is there to answer questions.

Re: Breastfeeding recommendations - Any books?
I have 2 books
The nursing mother's companion (I liked that one best)
The womanly art of breastfeeding (I did not care for that one..... very lala land on breastfeeding)
A great website is www.kellymom.com http://www.kellymom.com/
I loved the free seminar at BRU on breasfeeding. I felt it was the most "eye opener" on what BFing really is.

Re: Breastfeeding recommendations - Any books?
definitely talk to there women who have done it!
Both successfully and not!
I seemed to have only heard the Good stories. Cause I was so NOT prepared for the supply & demand feedings in the beginning, where you just feel like they consantly eat! I was also not prepared for some of the pain, and the massive engorgement!
ETA: If you can get through the first few weeks...it'll get better!
Good luck with it!! and it's great that you are educating yourself now!

I liked nursing mothers companion - though i though it was somewhat preachy - but I definitely referenced it when I had a question.

Re: Breastfeeding recommendations - Any books?
there is a small one with a pink cover and i can't find it right now to tell you the title...something about the american pediatrician's guide to breastfeeding. it has clear drawings of all the different positions which i found hugely helpful. also, the dr. sears baby book has a good breastfeeding chapter.
