Bridge, park, building names....
After reading an article about the ‘Mario cuomo’ bridge going back to the tappen zee bridge it got me thinking.....
I really feel like most politicians have skeletons in the closet and with technology and social media it will eventually come out. They should stop naming things after politicians. I really see no reason to change names of bridges and buildings and other things.
The bridges annoy me, because some of their original names kind of let you know the purpose of the bridge!

It will always be the Tappen Zee to me. I hate when politicians get anything named after them. A war Veteran yes not a politician

I never stopped calling it the Tappen Zee lol. I don't do well with change. I still call Costco the Price Club! I agree with you, no need to name after a person.

I’ve always called it the Tappen Zee. In fact I drove over it last weekend going upstate and when I was talking to DH he asked me where on route I was and I said “ just went over the Tappen Zee”. Most people probably only know it as that. I’m sure if I called it “Mario Cuomo Bridge ” he’d be like. “Huh?” Lol.

I wish they would leave the names alone also. No reason to change names, especially to a Politician's name! I also still call it the Tappan Zee....but then again I also still say the Interboro and Price Club.

I still call it that - and I live near it. Nobody here refers to it by it's new name.
The amount of money they spent replacing the signs too was a bit ridiculous!

I was driving in the Bronx once heading for the Triboro for the first time in a long time and saw signs for the RFK Bridge and was super confused for a couple of minutes thinking I went the wrong way until I realized it was the old Triboro.
But I also call the Jackie Robinson the Interboro so WTH do I know.
