I'm considering Bright Horizons because it's right near my work. It's veeeery pricey. I'm hoping to find a cheaper alternative close to home though.

Can I ask you what you got quoted? I didn't get to speak to a live person when I called.
All the other daycares I called seemed to be around the same price. $1200-$1500 per month.

While there may be an overall theme and a general focus, each specific center is run differently. We live in CT, but we looked at a few Bright Horizons and other large centers similar to Bright Horizons and Tutor Time. Each one was fairly different and we had different impressions about each one. A lot of it has to do with the specific people who work there and the directors. There were also different prices. If you want feedback, I'd ask about the specific location that you're considering.

Re: Bright Horizons/Tutor Time/Kiddie Academy anyone?
My DD went to Bright Horizons in Woodbury for the first year of her life.
I absolutely LOVED it there- but in the end, it was pricey (about $1800 for full time)- and they don't give a discount for a second child.
I really wish I could afford to send her there still- but am happy with our current daycare too.

Re: Bright Horizons/Tutor Time/Kiddie Academy anyone?
i used to work at a kiddie academy and would NEVER put my kid there. the hard thing with these places (kiddie academy and tutor time) is they're individually owned franchises, so one could be awesome and another with the same name could be god awful. if you're choosing a place i'd meet with the director, the teachers, and ask if you could sit in/do a walk through. also, once your kid is there, don't be afraid to show up unexpectedly to check things out.
the place i liked the most throughout my years of working in day care was the YMCA mainly because it's such a big corporation they have a lot of strict guidelines imposed a people are always looking at them. but those can be hit or miss too.
(btw - all the places i worked at were in bay shore)
