Bringing home a new baby when everyone is sick?

So both my DD and I have a horrible upper respiratory infections. I am bringing her to the doctor tomorrow to see if she needs anti-biotics. The baby is due on Thursday.

If DD is still sick, what do I do about bringing the baby home? We do not have family nearby for her to stay with and I don't want her to feel even more abandoned if I send her and DH to a hotel.

I am praying this baby is late! What would you do????

I would just try and keep your DD away from the baby as much as possible, make sure she washes her hands often. I'm sure the baby will be fine being that it has so many antibodies that will help her from getting sick. Chat Icon

ahhh Christine I can't believe you are having a baby on ThursdayChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyway back to your question - Hannah got coxsackie a few days after I brought Jack home. What can you do? You have 2 kids. I kept Jack in his infant carrier up on the dining room table when DD was awake. She wasn't allowed to touch him or kiss him. I had Purell pumps in every room. We all washed our hands constantly. I also had my MIL stay with us so that she could take care of DD while I took care of Jack. I was trying to minimize spreading the germs going from baby to baby. KWIM???

Do you have someone DD likes to stay with out of your home? If so, let her have a sleepover. If not, do your best to keep them apart and get someone healthy to help. Chat Icon

If I don't get on before Thursday GOOD LUCK and I can't wait to see picsChat Icon

I wouldn't stress it too too much. My son had strep when my DD was born and they said that she has my immune system and so many antibodies that the chances of her getting sick were very low. Just try and keep the baby away. Hope you all feel better soonChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
