Bringing two babies to the beach by yourself...

How do I go about doing this w/a 4 mo old and 21 mo old? Should I just write off the whole beach idea alltogether? Chat Icon

If you have a double all terrain stroller that you could put them in then I think it's doable if you pack and prepare carefully! Good Luck!

I do have this, however my fear is my 21mo old running around like a looney once we get there. I have a tent thing for my 4mo old but if shes crying and needs to be picked up I can't chase after Charlie at the same time Chat Icon If I go, I know I'll go w/friends...but they also have kids so I don't want to rely on them to help kwim?

You're brave taking 2 kids to the beachChat Icon

I work p/t and want to take DS to the beach during the week when it isn't so crowded but am trying to figure out how to do being I am 6 mo. pregnant and he is a 2 yr. old that is a wild man Chat Icon

I have seen these beach cart things that rolls on wheels (kind of what you might see the old people pulling with their groceries). I will see if I can find a picture of one. I was thinking about getting it and throwing everything in there that way if I need to stop and run after DS I can just park the cart Chat Icon

Here's a picture of what I want to get:

but the only thing, you would still have to carry your 4 mo. old. hmmm....do you have a double stroller that would work on the beach? you can throw all your stuff in the empty seat.

I think it would be difficult. I took DS to the beach and let me tell you it was a lot of work, I can't imagine trying with a toddler as well.

can you put the 4 m.o. in a bjorn or sling? with a hat? try to pack light and be ready to pick up and leave, JIK! you can do it and will feel even more empowered once you do!

I'm not sure you should do it. DH and I took DD to the beach, she's 20 months, it was non stop running. I think it would be overwhelming at the ages they are at.

I went with my 3 yo and 15 month old and it was a challenge, I have to say. The biggest challenge was all of the stuff that I had to bring. I had a wagon but that was no use. It's doable BUT I don't know how relaxing you are going the think it is. Good luck.

wow you are brave i had the same situation. i had a 6 month old and a 22 month old and i couldn't do it. i couldn't run after one and hold the other one at the same time. i waited til the following summer!!!! i would just stick to the backyard this year!! lol

Re: Bringing two babies to the beach by yourself...

its tough, i've done it with 3 babies.
I would not recommend going to a big beach i.e. tobay, jones, robert moses. I' only go to my little beach nearby. If the poop hits the fan, i'm home in 5 minutes, i don't have to walk far from the car etc etc.

i'd do it but only under a few circumstances. one, i would only go to a very small beach-where the parking lot is literally touching the sand. i went today with my 23 month old and went to a beach that i had to walk forever to get to! DD is so good there but it was a major PITA getting to the sand.
if your DS is really a "wild" man who cannot sit still ever then i probably would not go to be honest.
my DD is very good there if i have bunch of snacks to keep her busy in her little beach chair-and she loves her pails and shovels. keeps her busy. i am also 8 months PG so it was hard in that way. a lot of work but fun.
i would definitely use a bjorn for your DD btw if you have one!

I would do it (I have a 3 yo DS and a 4 month old DD) but I totally agree with what other people have said--

-- I'd only go to a small beach where it's a really short trip from the parking lot
-- The baby bjorn is what saves me when I do outings with the kids like this. I seriously could not survive without it
-- Lots of snacks and small toys like shovels etc to help keep the older DC staying in one place at least a little bit

Goodluck!!!
