Britax car seats were on the bad list????

I just read a report where there were problems with the Britax - the guy at BBB said he would put his infant in Britax - it was the safest infant seat!!!

Oh no - should I take it off the registry and choose another????

The car seat I registered for was on the list also. Not going to change it b/c we did our research. There are ways to make them safer, read the article. I read through it and it says if you already have (they list the brand names) to use a seatbelt not the LATCH to secure.

I registered for two britax too especially after we watched that you tube video on the little boy back when.
I do not think its the same one.

I also have a Britax, and we researched before we bought, and found it to be the best one in our price range. When you use the LATCH and seat belt together, the seat does not budge, so I am pretty confident that it would do it's job in an accident.

You are not supposed to use both together. It is dangerous actually. Using both together does not allow for proper absorption of impact!!

The Britax that Consumer Reports listed as "bad" was the Companion model.

NOT the Marathon or Roundabout.

Thanks! I have a Roundabout for my dd who is 13 months old- DS old seat and a Marathon for my DS who is 3 1/2. I feel much better now especially since I did a lot of research about Britax. I would ave died if anything had changed in the last 6 months!

Being neurotic me that I am I would take the Britax off the registry and get either of the 1st 2 on the list. The only 2 that they actually recommend. I have no problem getting a convertible Britax (that both kids use now) but not an infant one.

Re: Britax car seats were on the bad list????

This is for infant seats ONLY.
Not the covertable models- Marathan or Roundabout.

I would NEVER put my child in a seat that Consumer Reports says is a danger. They are very independant and testing is reliable.

Do not use LATCH and the seatbelt. That is VERY dangerous and can lead to injury- no matter which seat you use.

Me too...my MIL watches the kids of a cop and they gripe that she won't buy a newer model car so it can be latched down ALSO. [they are so neurotic that they have her get a state trooper install the seats each time she removes them...shall we mention my MIL raised 4 kids and none of them were ever hurt in a car crash before the age of 16(while driving themselves)]

Nancy sent me some great info on why not to use both Latch and the seat belt. I will ask her to dig it up.
