Re: britax car seats and small cars...
I have two marathons and both in small cars - a corolla and an escort. They fit fine. You just cant move the front seats back at all which could be a problem if you are tall - dh and I arent.

Re: britax car seats and small cars...
I have the Roundabout. I have it in a Nissan Murano (not as small as the Forester) and I have to watch how far the seat goes back. I still have the carseat rear facing and when it is behing DH's seat, he can't move the seat back as far as he needs to. I don't know if it would be the same issue with other carseats. I have the Evenflo Titan in my Accord (2 door coupe) and the passenger seat has to be up REALLY far for that to fit (a person could not possibly sit in the seat).
As far as the Roundabout fitting in the seat, it fits fine. It is nice and secure; not wobbly at all.

Re: britax car seats and small cars...
We just got the roundabout for our old Nissan Maxima. It is perfect. The Marathon definitely looked a little too big. We figure we won't need another one for a few years, and who knows what car we will be driving then.

Re: britax car seats and small cars...
Here's a website with a *limited* database of cars and what carseats can fit in them. I think this is data submitted to the site by users, but I'm not sure. At least it's a place to start.

Re: britax car seats and small cars...
i used to have my marathon in a honda accord, which imo isn't really a small car and even still the passenger seat had to be all the way up with the seat rear facing. now i have it in a lexus rx, which is much roomier and it's a much better fit, but i still have to have the passenger seat up a little bit. the marathon is a huge seat, but if you don't mind being smushed against the dashboard it's great and i like that it has a higher weight limit. oh, i put the marathon in a nissan sentra once (teeny tiny car) and it did fit, but if you wanted to sit in the passenger seat i think you would be pressed against the windshield i guess it really depends on who will be sitting in the passenger seat and also remember once you turn the seat around after a year it shouldn't be too much of an issue anyway.
