Yes there is parking, its the same lot as the Botanical Gardens.
As for food, to be honest never ate in that area, if we go there, we usually drive and then drive to eat in the park slope area. Great restaurants on 5th 6th and 7th avenues, and its a very safe kid friendly neighborhood. Parking is difficult but not impossible.
The fancier food is good, but I'm going to guess kids want simple stuff...
I like Pizza Plus on 7th ave and Purity Diner on 7th ave
These two have been around forever and where kids I babysat always wanted to go, but there are ton of new restaurants on 5th avenue, that get a lot of buz.
