Re: BTDT - Epidural??
Posted by oktom22
Honestly I was so blinded by the pain of the contractions I didn't even feel the Epidural. I was more concentrated on holding still through a contraction while the anesthesiologist administered the Epidural. . Same and I could have cared less if it hurt as long as I knew I was going to be pain free a few minutes later! I told the anesthesiologist he does Gods work on earth!!!!

This. I still vividly remember this moment...me biting my pillow and the anesthesiologists casually chatted/gossiped with the nurses as he was administering the epi...I was eavesdropping too lol

Re: BTDT - Epidural??
It was something I was soooo afraid of, but it wasn't bad at all. Honestly, all of the things that worried me while I was pregnant, all turned out to be not so bad.

Re: BTDT - Epidural??
I'm not your standard case so you shouldn't really go by my experience. I have a fused spine and they knew it would be difficult to get it in me beforehand. The absolutest hardest part for me, with my first, was that they took about 45 minutes to get it inserted, and I was contracting very, very, very, hard with maybe 30 seconds to a minute in between the contractions. They didn't realize how far along I was. I had to sit perfectly still through extremely intense contractions and it was not the most comfortable position to contract in. And the mental fear of what if I move was terrible. (and I did not get any pain relief afterwards--it didn't work on me)
With my second I had a spinal and and epi and the same time and the guy was much better. Only took about 10 minutes and the OB actually stayed with me and held my arms through it. That was a piece of cake, honestly.

Re: BTDT - Epidural??
It hurts in the moment, but it's nothing in comparison to the rest of the experience!!
Getting that epidural was the BEST thing ever
