BTDT BF moms: Increasing supply?
So I have been exclusively pumping since the day after DS was born. My supply was really good & I had a lot stored in the NICU (which I brought home). All of a sudden, I noticed a significant decrease in my supply yesterday & even today. In the am, I am barely getting 3oz where I was getting 2-3oz bottles.
I had oatmeal today & it did nothing. What else can I do? I am not ready to go to Formula as DS is not liking it very much

I have been EPing for five months. Sometimes that just happens. Could you be getting your period? Are you more stressed than normal?

Drink lots and lots of water. Put a warm towel on yourself. I also massage my boobs.
I used Mother's Milk Organic Tea. That helped too.

Re: BTDT BF moms: Increasing supply?
When my supply briefly dipped I ate oatmeal (still do everyday) and drank a ton of water and also took the fenugreek pills. I actually then had an oversupply!
Now @3 months I have leveled off and would use the fenugreek again if I dipped. I really think that is what did it for me.
HTH, Good luck!

Not sure if it is AF as I am 5 weeks PP. Stress, it could be that as I am dealing with two that are 10.5 months apart & my mom will be leaving us soon to go back home.
Thanks Kathleen, I am going to try the Mother's milk tea..Where do I get it?

Re: BTDT BF moms: Increasing supply?
My first suggestion would be to check the membranes (the soft white covers on the filter part-if you use a Medela pump). If those membranes are torn/ripped or even loose you will not pump as much. Also check the connection of the tubes and if there is water in the tubes, if the tubes are not properly connected or dry you will also pump less.
I can also recommend drinking lots of water. I found this helpful. Also increasing the amount of times per day you pump will lead to a incresased supply after a few days.
I would also like to know how many times a day do you pump? Have you decreased the amount of times you pump throughout the day? If you have decreased, even in the last week, your supply will also take a dip.
HTH.

I did change one day the amount that I pumped but then yesterday I pumped extra to see if I could regain my supply. There definately are water pellets in the tubing.

You should be careful about changing the amount of timnes or hours in between pumping because it can really affect your supply. If you only missed a session for one day your supply "should" slowly return over the next few days.
To drain/dry the tubing let the machine pump for a few minutes with just the tubing attached. I usually do this after every pumping session to remove any condensation.

For me, increasing the amount of times I pumped a day, taking Fenugreek (3 pills, 3x per day), eating oatmeal and drinking lots of water and Mothers Milk tea helped.

Supposedly Stop and Shop but I couldn't find it. There is an organic story on Broadway in Massapequa that sells it called Edens Way...thats where I got it.

Re: BTDT BF moms: Increasing supply?
At 5 weeks pp, I suddenly had a decrease in milk. I have no idea why it happened, but it lasted for about 5 days or so. At that time, I started taking fenugreek and eating oatmeal everyday and my supply went back up and never dipped again until AF came back at 7 months pp. Keep pumping as much as you can and I'm sure that your supply will establish itself soon.
