btdt bfing moms, supply during growth spurt?
i've always had some supply issues. even with my older ds who i ebf for 13 month, i had to take fenugreek.
now i'm ebfing my almost 3 month old and i take fenugreek capsules, drink mother's milk tea all day, and take the liquid stuff. i drink a ton of water and oatmeal doesn't do anything for me. oh and my ds has severe reflux and refuses the bottle and formula.
some days i'm engorged for a bit and have a good supply for the day & some days like the last 2 i feel empty and my ds is 'fighting' to get anything out.
what's the deal? is it that he's having a growth spurt and drinking more than i have?
why do i have great supply one day and nothing the next when i change nothing???
what can i do?

There is a 3 months growth spurt, I remember that. Growth spurts are rough during BFing. I can't recommend anything in particular cause I struggle with my supply during those times also. Luckily they only last a day or so.

Just because you don't feel engorged and full does NOT mean you don't have milk. The breasts will continually produce milk while a baby is nursing, but the flow will be slower. More likely, your supply has regulated. During growth spurts a baby may literally *camp out* on the breast for a few days. This causes the breasts to produce milk more per feeding at a faster rate.

My DS would get so aggitated while BF while going through a growth spurt. He would nurse for a bit and then start pulling off and look like he was struggling to get milk out. It would be like that for about a week and then everything would go back to normal. Also, my DS also has Acid Reflux and the doctor said he could be pulling off because he was in pain.

isorry, didn't mean it to sound that if i wasn't engorged i had no milk. tmi alert: but my boobs are like a deflated balloon and not full feeling like normal (engorged is a whole different story...ouch watermellons!) he is struggling, not swallowing, no milk in mouth when he unlatches (which is frequent), he is just miserable.
i'm afraid i may O.D. on fenugreek.
