BTDT Disney
We are leaving for Disney next Saturday. Staying at Port Orleans Riverside. Doing Epcot day we arrive, Animal Kingdom next day/Downtown Disney at night, MK on Monday and Movieland ? on Tuesday. Tips to making life easier with my ASD ADHD son?

Make sure you go to guest services and ask for a guest assistance card. You don't need a note, but you do need to explain his needs. They will give you a card that allows you to go to an alternate entrance (usually the fast pass entrance). But do not use this on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, because you will wait a really long time, and go through behind the building. The regular line for that is usually continuous though and goes pretty quickly. Also, I would get a lanyard with a pouch to keep the card in, because you have to keep getting it out to show it.
You can also ask for an ADA card to pre-board when flying if you want. Just ask at the gate. I do this when flying Southwest, because it wouldn't be comfortable for my son, or the person next to him, if we didn't get a seat together. Plus he's particular about where he wants to sit, and must sit by the window, and I like to have time to wipe down everything around him with Clorox wipes because he likes to put his hands in his mouth.
Have fun! Disney is so great with people that have special needs!
Oh, and I really think you should do the Magic Kingdom more than one day! There is sooo much to do, and you can't do it all in one day. I would cut out Hollywood Studios for another MK day to be honest!

Disney is great with special needs kids...we go twice a year. Just make sure you take a break during the day if your child needs it. Don't get upset if you can't see everything. I'd rather see a few things and have a happy child then do alot and have them melt down. Get a stroller. Kids get tired and it also gives them a safe haven if it gets to stimulating. Also at the parks get a GAC. It helps with some of the waiting on lines. In the restaurants, if there is nothing that you think your son would like, ask the server. They sometimes have other items they can make up for you...chicken nuggets, grilled cheese or a plain pasta. Above all just have fun!!

Definately use the guest assistance pass. It was a life saver for us. Take breaks, but don't necessarily go with a full plan because you don't know how things will play out. Visuals also helped my daughter.

We didnt plan anythin, breafasts with characters or anything. We just went with the flow day by day. You can bring snacks and fiood into the park, so bring that. We stayed at a condo, so we were able to go to tthe store and pack food some days because I think we waited longer on a food line one day than the actually rides
agree with everything!!!!! Have fun!!!
