BTDT mommies, contraction question

So I never had a single contraction with DS, only braxton hicks.

Last night, two times (maybe 2 minutes apart) I had cramping in my back that radiated to the front, my belly got hard, and it went away after maybe 30 seconds. I'm guessing that was a contraction, but it was so quick I wasn't sure. The pain stayed in my back the whole time and didn't fade until my uterus relaxed. I was standing while it happened the first time, sitting the 2nd time.

This morning my back is pretty sore unless I am sitting/relaxing. If I am up and walking I have a lot of AF-like cramping in front.

Do you think those were "real" contractions? I just want to know what to look out for, thanks.

(I am just over 35 weeks)

Re: BTDT mommies, contraction question

Mine didn't feel like that, but Tristan was back to back with me and I was having period like pain until they broke my water in the hospital and by then I was so tired, and the pain was so constant that I couldn't really tell what was a contraction!

Re: BTDT mommies, contraction question

When I had contractions with Ryan it was all in the front. I' d say the pain was gradual. First 25 seconds very tolerable then it peaked around 30 seconds and then came back down for the last 25 seconds. That is, in the beginning when they were they were 5 minutes apart lasting 1 minute. And scary to think I can't remember if I felt my belly get hard. Chat Icon

I didn't really feel it in my back which is weird since he was sunny side up and most women experience severe back labor.

Re: BTDT mommies, contraction question

I ONLY felt my contractions in the back. Sounds like it could be the start of something, but maybe just practice since they went away.

Good luck!!

Sounds like a contraction.... you will probably start getting them on and off again until she is here!

Re: BTDT mommies, contraction question

I had contractions like this too since DD was sunny side up. I had pretty bad back labor as a result but I guess that's what epidurals are for - that was a godsend! Chat Icon

Sounds like it - that's exactly what I experienced when I went into labor with Alex, and for WEEKS leading up to labor with Yael. Back labor/contractions can be pretty damn painful Chat Icon

My contractions were in the front for a while. Once I was 7cm, they went from front to back. That's when I asked for the epi. I was in constant pain and didn't catch a break between contractions.

Yes it sounds like it to me. I felt them in my back and hips. I didn't start contracting until AFTER my water broke.
