Tried everything, all recommendations taken!!! I'm guessing he needs to just stop on his own or fall on his head I give up!

No recommendations, but how does he like that little Fisher Price chair? We're thinking about getting one for Sarah for christmas.

Re: BTDT Moms - How can we put an end to this?
They eventually stop. My son did and I didnt do anything special. Now my daughter...shes 15 months and stands on everything including the table which Luke never did. Its insane, shes taken a few tumbles but it hasnt stopped her. I just take her down and say No so she knows I dont consider it acceptable behavior.

Re: BTDT Moms - How can we put an end to this?
Both my kids tried it. The minute they fell & bumped their heads - we start with the "Don't stand on the chair, remember when you fell down & bonked your head?" While they still do it occasionally at the dinner table to reach for something rather than the "please pass the...", they've stopped.
Really none of us know what we're doing. I'm wondering if I'm making them too afraid of things. Something he hears in school daily "don't run" turns into my son saying "I shouldn't run (on the soccer field) because I could fall down & hurt myself." So I tell him to just shake it off. We're all just winging it

Re: BTDT Moms - How can we put an end to this?
Thanks ladies! He's like a Mountain Goat! He'll climbs and stands on everything. I feel like a broken record and I don't want to overdo it either... I need to choose my battles so he won't tune me out! LOL
WE had him clapping everytime he sat down properly but I guess the rush to see how far he can go is just to great! LOL

He loved the Fisher Price chair, he does still play with it. He likes the music and bops to it... that is when he is not using it as a step stool!

not to put a damper on thing but my daughter loves to stand up in the bath and dance around and she always falls and it still hasn't stopped her from doing it

Re: BTDT Moms - How can we put an end to this?
James started to climb on things...so I started counting to 3 to give him a chance to come down on his own....he seems to understand that if I get to 3 he is going in his room for a time out...and he hates that.
he is only 14 months so the time out is only 1 minute 14 seconds....but it seems like a lifetime to him

Re: BTDT Moms - How can we put an end to this?
He is soooo cute!!!!! I know thats not what you wanna hear when hes stressing you out standing and climbing on everything. but save those pics!!!! lol...
Alex does the same thing.. not as often, but occasionally he likes to get mommy going.. lol
I started with the suggestions above.. Ur gonna fall and bump your head like you did last time type.. and the clap when he sits the right way.. and even "time out" if he couldnt "sit like a big boy" Its a never ending battle and I feel your pain.. just when I thought we were getting over the standing on chairs, he learned to scale the cabinets.. to reach the cookie jar, or get his own sippy cup ..
The thing is this stage hes all about trying to do things on his own, experiment on his own, and TEST mommy on everything... You need to try to get a step ahead of him.. ie.. we have a bakers cart that holds our microwave... The cabinet under the microwave has two baskets, one with cups and lids.. the soft plastic "disposable or reusable" ones.. and the other has a couple of plates and some very blunt kids eating utensils... we put a booster at the table and now for lunch-- instead of him trying to scale the counter and open the child safety device on our fridge for luch while mommy uses the potty.. lol.. he gets his plate and a fork, and a cup and gives them to me or asks me for milk or to eat.. and sometimes even sets his own place at the table.. just to do things "like a big boy" ...
And the few times that He does try to stand to reach things, or jus stand for kicks, I remind him that big boys sit on their coolies..lol.. and/or ask him what hes trying to reach.. most often its the light!! Good Luck and I hope this helps!!! Keep me posted!!! :o)
