BTDT moms - pottytraining through the night
Night #2 without diapers went pretty well - DH woke Alex up at 11pm to use the potty, which she did, and then fell back asleep.
But she woke up again with wet undies and wet sheets in the morning.
Anything else I can do to help her with this process? Or does it just take time?

Re: BTDT moms - pottytraining through the night
We don't have any experience with this yet since we only started potty training 4 days ago.
But my sister's DD is 100% potty trained even at night and she said that it took about a month to be mess-free overnight but that eventually she just learned.
She got a waterproof pad at BRU that said it held up to 6 cups of fluid (i couldn't find it at my BRU) -- they also sell a matress cover on one step ahead.com ......
but what my sister said worked was just not going back to diapers, no matter what.
HTH --- I wish I could give some firsthand advice. Hopefully in a few weeks!

We're using a plastic cover under her sheet, so the mess isn't an issue - I just throw it in the washer before I leave work, and I don't make a big deal out of it because I don't want to upset her.
She's a quick learner so I'm hoping she'll catch on soon!

definitly get a waterproof matteress pad. and DONT go back to diapers or pullups no matter what. also limit her amount of liquids before bed. and if you see her getting up in the middle of the night, just ask her to use the potty. but it sounds like your doing great.

I did limit her fluid intake after 7pm, but my brilliant DH decided to bring home a ginormous watermelon this week and of course cut it up and gave it to Alex for dessert the first and second night that Alex embarked on no diapers for sleepytime
I know who is getting the dumbarse of the month award THIS month!

Re: BTDT moms - pottytraining through the night
After about a week of my son being pretty much 100% potty trained during the day, He told me he was ready to go to sleep w/o a diaper- we made a big song and dance about it, and I just told him...if he has to do pee-pee, he HAS to wake up and go to the potty, otherwise his sheets will be soaked and he'll be uncomfortable....
I didnt let him drink anymore after dinner... and perhaps I was lucky but he never had an accident! Good Luck!

Hello...I don't have any advice either since I'm still trying to get her daytime trained but I do have a question for you.......How long did you wait before you started putting Alex to bed in undies? Did you stick with just training her during the day at first and pullup at night?

Alex has been fully day pottytrained for about a month. About 3 weeks ago we took her out of diapers for her naps. For the last week or so she has been asking to get rid of the diapers for nighttime so I just took the plunge once we ran out of diapers.

Oh ok....I thought I was doing something wrong so I figured I'd ask the potty train pro

Emily has only been training for 3.5 days now. We started on sunday. She still has a LOOOOT of pee accidents.
But she has been really upset putting a pull up on for nighttime. She told me that diapers are for babies and she's a big girl now, she wants to wear her big girl panties.
I explained to her that she is usually wet when she wakes up, and that is why she needs the diaper, because she can't make a mess in her bed.
But I dunno.....
Today she woke up dry. She has had 3 naps and been dry for the naps.
Beth, how did you know she was ready for it? I just odn't know how to tell!

I've taken a REALLY laid back approach with pottytraining. Alex is so stubborn that I knew for this, it all had to be her idea and within her control. Keep in mind too, all our kids will be using a real toilet when they are teenagers, so who really cares when it happens, right?
So, I know when it's time to take the next step when SHE takes the initiative. For day pottytraining I knew we were ready because out of the blue she started sitting on her pottychair and started going peepee. I had to add extra incentives for poopy because we transitioned to undies and it was just getting too messy and inconveinent for school.
I knew she was ready to take the diaper off at naptime because she made SUCH a fuss at school about it. In fact, it was at school that they started experimenting with it because she demanded to take a nap without it.
And about a week ago Alex started asking to go to sleep without diapers. Same as Emily she says she's a big girl and big girls don't wear diapers. So I took her lead - she said she's ready so I have to trust her. Sure, we'll have accidents, but as long as I don't make a big deal out of it,and as long as she maintains interest in doing it this way, I'll keep trugging along.
