DS is only 9 months so it wont be anytime soon for me. But at what age do you ever feel confident enough to trust that they're okay and not have to listen or see what theyre doing?

I'll tell you when I get there.....she's 3, and we still leave the monitor on at night.

We stopped about a month after DS transitioned to his big boy room. He was 2 years and 1 month.

DD is 3 and i thought once the new baby gets here in september i would not have the monitor in her room, but she likes the monitor, she talks to us, in the middle of the night if she has to go to the bathroom i can get her, and i also love being able to hear her talk and sing when she is in the room by herseldf, it is too cute, so i think i am going to buy an inexpensive one for her room to keep in there a little longer

I'm the wrong one to answer b/c my answer is laid back BUT it's also b/c we shareed a room with the kids for almost 2 years due to renovations.
With my first I used it until she was about a year. For my 2nd I had a video monitor and stopped using that when she was about 10 months and put it away. For my 3rd I never even took the monitor out.
For my baby now, I just starting using it yesterday b/c she is now naping upstairs in her crib and not the swing anymore downstairs with us. to be honest I don't even need it now b/c I can hear when she wakes up, but I'm still going to use it b/c it's summer and we're outside a lot.

Eta: I've always felt comfortable with out a monitor b/c our rooms are across from each other.

I stopped using it when she was 13 weeks. Chat Icon BUT, DD's bedroom is right next to ours, and as far as I can tell, I have never NOT heard her. Now, with the AC going all night, I started using it again in case I don't hear her over the noise. She's 10.5 months.

Around 3 months with #2, she was right across the hall and I could not sleep with that thing on. I heard every stinkin move. So I got rid of it.

Re: BTDT moms -- when did you feel confident enough to stop using the baby monitor?

DS is 9 months too and I can't imagine giving up the video monitor or the separate sound monitor on the Angel Care. I wake up in the middle of the night just to glance at him. We did however have to give up the AngelCare motion sensor (just 2 nights ago) bc DS moves all around the crib and we were getting too many false alarms and DS would wake up. I'm still not sleeping well, I worry.

We actually didn't even have one until DS's first birthday. It was a one bdrm, for the first 10 months we co-slept and the next 2 months we converted the dining room into our room which was right next to the actual bedroom where he slept. I could hear him breathe through the wall. We got one for his first birthday, started using it and I started sleeping like crap because I stayed up to watch him like a hawk. I almost wish I never got it. Now we have a house though and his room is down the hall so I'm glad we have it and still use at 17 months and will consider using it until he's 17 years. Chat Icon

We stopped using ours when DD was around 6 months old. Our monitor broke and we just never bought a new one. Our rooms are literally right next store to one another though, and I'm a very light sleeper.
