BTDT Mom's: Another transitioning to milk question but a kind TMI one...
Ever since my DS had a constipation/not pooping incident at 4 months old (he didn't poop for a whole week) his bowel movements have been solid (DS has been FF since I went back to work when he was 9 weeks old) My ped suggested that we start solids at that time to help him go regularly again. He did start pooping again but they just began being semi hard aeverytime instead of the soft poops he was having before. He never strained to get them out but there would one semi hard peice of poop in his diapers, sometimes big, sometimes small. I asked my Ped about it at his 6 month appt and she said that as long as he is not strainging and not in pain then its OK.
All DH could say about it is that DSs hard poops are so much easier to clean than soft poop!
Anyway, my real question is when you made the transition to milk, did you see a change in the consistency of DC's poop?
DS is only going to be 9 months next week so we won't be starting the transition anytime soon but I am just curious.....
TIA!

yes there was definitely an adjustment period. Ds has had constipation problems in the past as well. While transitioning to milk, there was a bit of constipation going on here or there. His GI Specialist recommended putting some pear juice in his milk for a bit to help with that. It did the trick.

DS had a big issue with constipation as we transitioned to milk. I tried everything, prunes, prune juice, liquid stool softener. Nothing worked. We had to do the suppository.
Yes, the consistency has changed. More formed.

Ok thanks. We also tried everything when he was 4 months old and we had to do the suppositories too.
I was thinking that my DS's poop would go back to being soft or softer with the milk as opposed to the hard poops he is having now, but your DS had the opposite happen..... interesting.
Thanks for the replies ladies!
