BTDT Moms. Anyone told they have a Narrow Pelvis????
Got back from my Dr. appt. I have a narrow pelvis and a baby measuring pretty big, (so they say). Dr. told me I have a slightly higher risk of c section b/c of this.
Also the baby isn't dropping (b/c of the narrow pelvis) so no progress in the cervix either!!
Just wondering if anyone else was told this and was able to push out their baby.
Obviously for BTDT Moms

I feel like I do!! My pelvic area has been sore and aching for like 2 weeks. Its only getting worse. I have a doctor's appt today I'm gonna ask him. Did you have that kind of pain also? It just feels like tightening and achiness.
Btw, I'm having a c/s anyway, so this isnt going to affect it either way.

That kind of pain is probably not related to your pelvic opening in any way. It's likely your pubic symphysis ligament softening and stretching as a result of relaxin and progesterone. It's actually a good sign that your body is doing what it was designed to do. I would get a 2nd opinion on the late determination of a narrow pelvis. Normally OBs can and do determine this at your initial pregnancy confirmation exam.

Yes, thats exactly how I feel too! When did it start for you? Do you feel like its getting worse? You can be honest, I can take it

It started pretty early I think..somewhere in my 20's (week wise) and yes it's getting worse. But I do agree with PP that it's a sign of loosening ligaments..not that you have a narrow pelvis.

yes i have a narrow pelvis- it took me a little longer to deliver- 3 hrs pushing.
he was stuck in my pelvis for a while.
But we got him out!

I was told this and after almost 5 hours pushing, we had to do a C section because my DD wasn't dropping at all. She was a skinny baby at 7.02lbs, so I am assuming this time I will need a section.

I wouldn't rush into a c/s. I would still let nature takes it course. I agreed to a c/s with my 1st because I was told my pelvis was very flat and narrow. Ive since seen 3 OB's who said that a c/s was not necessary.

I was told I have a narrow pelvis after 30 hours of labor and no progression. DD was NOT coming out the natural way. This time I am scheduling a c/s. No need to go through that pain again.

I have a small pelvis which my doc said was strange bc I'm average height. I elected to have c section bc I didn't want to push for hours just to need surgery. thank GOD I did because DS head circumference was in the 97th Percentile even tho he was less than 6 pounds. I would have never been able to push him out . see how it goes as you get near the end, some people open up more.
the on call doc wanted me to "try" no thanks!

I was told I have a very narrow pelvis during my induction. I never progressed past 4-5 cm and ended up with a c-section. At a PP checkup, another doctor in my practice commented on my very narrow pelvis and said I probably wouldn't be a good candidate for a VBAC in the future.

I do. I was in labor for 17 hours with my first son, which did end up in a c-section (as did #2 and as will #3  )
