BTDT Moms: Are 2 kids really easier than 1?

2 under the age of 2 really...

The past 11 months for me have not been easy, full of joy, yes, but it was really tough at times.. DD is still not sleeping thru the night. I'm concerned about her night time wakings would would affect the pregnancy also? If DC #2 is as challenging as DD now, I think i might go insane.

I've heard that taking care of 2 kids is easier than taking care of 1, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

No! Taking care of one is much much easier than taking care of two.

I agree with this too - except that as they get older, they occupy each other's time.

There is no question that I wouldn't have to break up fights if I had only 1.

Doesn't mean it's not great though.Chat Icon

I think transitioning from 1 to 2 is easy. I think getting 2 from the start is tough (to say the least).

Some things are harder, some are easier. You know what to expect, and you have some ideas on how to handle different things.

My kids seem to tag team nap times, so I never get time completely to myself from when the first gets up until the second goes to bed. I tend to do housework at night b/c it's just faster for me. My son is 10 months and very busy, so I don't feel comfortable leaving him alone for long stretches and he doesn't like being confined in the play pen any more.

But we're still considering a 3rd, so it's not that bad.

Re: BTDT Moms: Are 2 kids really easier than 1?

I'd never call 2 easier than 1. How is that even possible? One child to feed, dress, bathe, change, comfort in the night, worry about, etc. is a lot easier, hands down. That's how I would answer your original question. However, I don't think 2 is unmanageable at all. Just like you adjust from none to one, you can adjust from 1 to 2. In fact, that part I think is actually easier since you are now an experienced parent, most of it is not so foreign to you anymore. I had 2 under 2 for a few months and then had 3 under 4 for a few months. It's all good. I'm done though Chat Icon

2 kids are not easier then one. BUT. as as a mom who has been a member of the 2 under 2 club. i found that transition to be smooth sailing.

I think most people mean that the 2nd was easier than the 1st, not 2 is easier than 1. Much different meanings. With the 2nd, you kind of know what to expect, how to handle things, what to buy, etc. However, you have 2 kids, so it will be harder.

Re: BTDT Moms: Are 2 kids really easier than 1?

to mommies of 3, one is a piece of cake Chat Icon

Two gets challenging because they have such different needs and you are juggling such different children (As far as their needs, a toddler/newborn).

When you have 3 under 4 youre really outnumbered.. Chat Icon

You will absolutely adjust. It will come naturally. IT doesnt come easy to any of us, we all learn as we go. I still ask "new mommy" questions with # 3.

Heck No! Having two is of course harder. But the love you get from two is worth it Chat Icon Plus as they are getting older i find that they occupy each other a lot. So it's getting easier.

But having two to feed, two to change, two to occupy, two to go through sleep deprivation was really, really, really, really, really hard.

Re: BTDT Moms: Are 2 kids really easier than 1?

Maybe you heard wrong. It is easier to ADJUST to having 2 than it is to adjust to having 1. It's harder but like most things gets easier with time. Watching the interaction, when they arent fighting, is great!!

Now, having 3... well it's a whole different ball game.

Re: BTDT Moms: Are 2 kids really easier than 1?

i wouldnt say easier, but maybe in terms of youre already in the mode of bottles, naps, diapers, being awake at night already...that it wont be AS BAD as you imagine!
And sometimes if the 1st is the tough one, God will grace you with an easier one the second time-lol!
For me,it was the opposite!
