BTDT Moms, Are Childbirth Classes Needed if You've Seen Videos?
I've already seen a bunch of videos on childbirth, breastfeeding and infant care.
Do I still need to take the childbirth classes? They are 2 hours long once a week for 4 weeks and cost $125.
Let me know your thoughts!
TIA!

I would take them. Although I wound up with a c-section, I still thought they were informative as to when to call the doctor, the hospital tour, etc.

I found the childbirth class helpful to ask questions about drugs and labor. Having all my questions answered and hearing other stories of labor really relaxed me about the whole process and I ended up with a drug-free delivery.

I watched a video and felt well informed going into labor. I also feel that in the moment the nurses (if you get good ones) are who help you through. I felt they were more helpful than trying to remember instructions from a class.

I watched the laugh and learn DVD and got so much info out of it. I did not do any classes. I did a free childcare class at BRU.
I felt prepared.

Honestly I felt well informed from the video. I say save your money! I am CPR certified for my line of work but I think everyone should take a class in that. I would pass on the childbirth and go for the CPR class.

Everyone takes something different out of the classes.
For me...no regrets overall but if I could go back in time I would have skipped most.
I will say that for me...childcare was great for DH who never cared for a child before and it was a nice refresher for me AND infant/child CPR was definitely worth every penny!

The video was enough. The hospital tour helped too.

I didn't take any classes and have no regrets. I won't with any future pregnancies either.

I did the same, and read a little about childbirth as well. I felt prepared without the classes.

Re: BTDT Moms, Are Childbirth Classes Needed if You've Seen Videos?
I just watched the Laugh and Learn video and felt like I learned enough. I didn't go into labor though and ended up with a scheduled c-section so I didn't really use any of the info I learned on the video.
