Moms of 5-6 mo olds - or btdt moms - schedule q and help needed!
Hi ladies! My DS is the worst sleeper...he has pretty much made his own schedule which is no schedule at all really and leaves him with getting probably only a total of 8-9 hrs of sleep per day on a good day with a last feeding at 10:30 and a bedtime (if im lucky) of midnight. Anyway, dr. said its time to start training him to sleep better by letting him CIO to some extent and the method he was describing is essentially the Ferber method so i plan on getting the book and trying to start implementing this week.
Anyway, as a first time mom and a mom to a crazy frat boy like baby - I have no idea what his schedule should look like. If you could please post - bed/wake times, feeding times (b/c ds has been trying to drop a feeding lately which im mnot sure he should do) and nap times that would help me soooo much by giving me a goal to strive for!
I'm not sure why this has been so hard for me! Short of CIO I have tried everything :( I feel like the worst mommy ever that my baby doesn't sleep normally!
Thanks for reading and, in advance, for your help!

Re: Moms of 5-6 mo olds - or btdt moms - schedule q and help needed!
I can post mine but in all honesty I really lucked out... my kids are good sleepers... DS more so than DD but I got very lucky and I know they slept more than most kids... they hung onto that thrid nap longer than most.
This was their schedule. I think at month 7 they dropped down to two naps and that's when I introduced lunch.
6 am wake- bottle (usually they would stir around 5:30)
7:30 nap
8:30 wake and bottle
10:30 nap
12:30 wake and bottle
3:00 nap for 45 minutes
3:45 wake and bottle
6:00 bottle and bed
HTH
I'm sorry I don't have any advise on the Ferber method

Re: Moms of 5-6 mo olds - or btdt moms - schedule q and help needed!
My DS turns 5 months on Wed. His schedule is somewhat predictable although it is never set in stone, meaning the times range 1-1-1/2 hours from what I am saying below. Sometimes he is up at 7:00 am, sometimes 9:00 am... but he always naps within 2 hours of first waking up and then about 2-1/2 to 3 hours after waking from his naps. He's rarely up more than 3-1/2 hours at a time. hope that helps.
8:30 Wake Up 10:30 - 12:00 Nap 2:30-3:30 Nap 6:00-7:00 Nap 9:30 Bed for the night.

Re: Moms of 5-6 mo olds - or btdt moms - schedule q and help needed!
My son pretty much dictates his own schedule. I am fine with it and he is a decent night sleeper. His schedule is pretty much flexible and subject to change any day! My first son on the other hand didn't sleep well until a year.
As for feeding, he hates his bottles in the morning so we load up on solids in the morning. My son is 6.5 mos old.
Typical Day 7-730 Wakeup (can be as early as 6 or as late as 8)- small bottle 1-2oz if I am lucky. 9am cereal and fruit 12pm meat mixture jar and maybe half of something else, sippy cup with water (if he drinks it) 3pm 6 oz bottle 6pm 6 oz bottle 730pm cereal and veggie 930 5-7oz bottle and bed
Naps - It all depends on when he gets up. I am also running around a few days a week with classes for my 3 yr old so it does interfere. Typically he naps about 2-3 hours in a day. Typically he does 3 a day - am (11ish), afternoon (2ish), and evening (5ish). His naps can be 30mins to 60 mins. Some days if he gets up early - I may have a 4th nap. It has only been in the last week or so where he has started napping better. before this he was basically 4 - 20-30 min naps/day. Oh yeah - he only naps well in his infant seat which barely closes at this point so not sure what I'll do after that.

Being a SAHM, DD usually dictated her schedule but I have to say - she has been a good sleeper
This is not set in stone with exact times - they do vary slightly which I am now trying to work on
7-7:30 wake 7:30-8am cereal 9 am - bottle she's eating about every 3 hours or so and about 4 - 5 ounces with each bottle bedtime is anywhere between 8:30 - 9:30. Dinner cereal usually around 7pm
ETA - naps are not at a set time right now. This week we introduced veggies for lunch
HTH!

Re: Moms of 5-6 mo olds - or btdt moms - schedule q and help needed!
DD will be 5 months a week from today and she's BF (not on cereal) so here goes:
7:30-wakes(dozes on and off from 6am) and eats 10:30-eats 11 or 12-nap 3pm-wakes and eats
No other naps for the rest of the day, she just takes the long one.
8pm-bedtime
