BTDT Moms: Csec's and Staples

My doc just told me today that they use staples for the csections they perform...anyone have experience with this in reference to the pain, the removal and the way it looks after compared to stitches...just curious...Thanks!

ive had two csections. both times i had staples. My scar is almost nonexistent. And removal is a piece of cake. It didnt hurt at all. Just make sure you go back to get them out when they tell you to. My sis in law waited too long and the skin started to grow over the staples. Now that hurt.

My last OB used either stitches or staples depending on the individual - staples hold better on some people.

Personally I had staples and I healed very quickly - I am always getting comments on what a beautiful job they did. I have never had issues with my scar so I can't complain. In fact I felt nothing really when they removed them either (the OB was very gentle). I would have no problems getting them again. They put steri strips on when they remove the staples. My scar is smaller than some I know with stitches. A lot of it is also your OB's experience.

I had staples and for the first few days I was so scared to look down at it for the fear of getting queasy. But when I finally did , it wasn't bad at all. There was no dried up blood or anything, which is what bothers me about stitches. They took them out the morning I left the hospital and I barely felt a thing...they just popped right out. The scar healed pretty good but the right side is raised a little where the left side is flat.

My dr used staples. Despite what it seems like, they DO NOT HURT AT ALL coming out, almost tickle.

I don't know what heals better but I know some drs like to use them b/c they help you drain fluid better.

At first when they come out you see all these little staple holes, red marks where they were but that goes away. My incision is perfectly straight and smooth, I think the staples worked great to be honest.

I've had two c-sections and have had staples twice. They look soooo freaky, but there is no pain at all when they are removed--barely even a pinch...barely! The first time they were removed the day I left the hospital; the second time they were removed in my doctor's office a few days later. I haven't compared scars with anyone , but I'm happy with the way mine looks.

They weren't bad as far as pain- I got them out 6 days later and it was the coolest feeling. I felt back to normal. As for the scar- Yikes!!!! I don't know if it's because I had staples or not but it's fugly.

It was fine. They were no big deal to remove at all. You don't even feel pinching.

My sister & I both had c-sections. I had stiches, she had staples (the OBs used to practice together). My scar a week after the stiches came out was less visible than hers at 4 months PP.

I had staples on the outside and it was no big deal. My scar healed great and you would never know I had staples. They were a little uncomfortable as the days wore on because the wound started healing but they came out within 5-6 days of the surgery. Taking them out was completely painless, I didn't feel a thing. She just pulled them out and it took less than 5 min. You'll be fine.

I had staples - they were removed after 3 days and I felt so much better after they came out.....didn't hurt at all when they removed them. I don't think there is any more or less scarring than stitches....

I had stapples. They were removed the day I left the hospital and replaced by the strips. It does not hurt or "pinch" at all. Trust me! I have NO pain tolerance and I cannot take pain killers.

My OB told me my scar healed very well and it was a great job (another OB did the surgery!).

I didn't have staples, I had the stitches but my scar is kind of eek!! I think scarring has everything to do with how your skin heals. I have always scarred easily

I had staples. It totally was nothing to be taken out and I am a big baby! They take them out after like 4/5 days. My scar is a little hairline can not even notice it I am 10 months PP.

Advice wear a gurdle after the C section it holds everything it and helps your tummy go down faster and holds the incision nice and tight!!

i had staples. I got them out a week after my section and i was so worried about it....but it didn't hurt at all. You will be fine.

No pain in the removal department. Actually a little relief.

Scar looks ok. It's finally starting to fade, I think. I try not to look at it too often.

I had stitches and did not heal well. I'm going with staples this time.

It wasn't bad at all...my scar is not bad at all 5 mths pp, and pain wise, I only felt 3 when they pulled them out and it was a quick pinch.

Don't worry, after having the baby and dealing with that discomfort, having the staples taken out is a breeze.

eta: after they come out, your will feel SOOOO much better

I had external staples, internal dissolvable stitches.

I felt next to nothing when the nurse removed them the day that I was released from the hospital..... Trust me, I was totally anticipating the WORST. It was nothing.

I had staples. They weren't pretty but didn't hurt. When they were removed I only felt one of them and it was barely a pinch.

DD is 17 months old and DH says I healed like wolverine. If you don't know exactly where it is you can't find my scar at all. I can only locate it by feel and only in a few spots otherwise it's perfectly smooth.
