BTDT Moms- Giving your child Prevacid or any other pill that you have to mix with water
How did you get it in them? I feel like he isn't even getting the right dosage since most of it remains in the dropper. Any suggestions? TIA

Re: BTDT Moms- Giving your child Prevacid or any other pill that you have to mix with water
We have our prevacid "compunded" by a pharmacy near us, so we don't use the solu-tabs. The medication is broken downa and dissolved in a sodium bicarbonate solution.
Most hospital pharmacies and 24 hour pharmacies do this. Our GI Dr didn't want us using the solutabs because they siad they weren't as effective in getting the right dose.
You can try and call a few pharmacies and ask if they can "compund" a prevacid prescrition into liquid form to use.
If you do get it compounded make sure you shake the prescription VERY VERY well before each use!

We had issue with insurance paying for compounded antacid so this is what we did.
Take the solutab on a spoon, drop water on it with a dropper until it becomes a paste. Rub that paste under tongue or on gums. The diluting in water never worked for us. We also just popped it in his mouth followed by the binky but that always freaked me out.

Thanks! I think this will be easier since I already had the prescription filled!

Re: BTDT Moms- Giving your child Prevacid or any other pill that you have to mix with water
We use a childrens medicine spoon to give it to my DD.
We put the solutab on the medi. spoon and add a little water on top. If needed we add a little bit more water (sometimes a little sticks to the spoon but if u add a little bit more water DD takes it up no problem.)
Using a syringe or dropper didn't work. This is the best method we have found.
