BTDT Moms: Going to Florida in March...DD is ready to transition to convertible car seat, but should I keep her in infant seat until we are through with the trip?
Is it easier to travel with a baby with the infant car seat? DD is 8 months and just about grown out of the infant seat, but I'm trying to keep her in it as long as possible b/c I just assumed it would be easier to travel...
We bought a seat for her on the plane...how does this work...do we just keep her in the infant seat and belt her in? She can sit up on her own very well....would it be easier just to bring a regular stroller and rent a car seat for our travels in Florida? She is getting a bit restless in the infant seat. TIA!

Well, I'd kind of play it by ear. DS grew A LOT this past month and is now in the convertible (he is older tho).
I've only travelled with the infant car seat and our metrolite when DS was 3 months old and then just the stroller at 8 months (we cruised, didn't need a car seat). And we gate checked it with the stroller.
If your two options are rent a car seat or bring the infant seat, then I'd bring the infant seat. My SIL flew to Florida when her DD was 1 and rented a seat and it was horrible, she ahd to buy a new seat at Wal-Mart.
Where are you going?

thank you! I guess I will just have to wait and see how big she is in a month...we are going to Longboat Key where DH's parents have a condo...I love it down there and it will be DD's first time in the pool!

DS is 9 1/2 months-we've traveled 2x so far (at 5 mos and 6 mos) with infant carseat.
He is now in the convert. carseat but can still fit in the infant one. We're traveling again in a few weeks, and will break out the infant carseat and snap n go.
We did the transition to the convert. carseat b/c he does not fit in the infant carseat w/ his coat on. We're going to So Carolina, no need for a winter coat so he'll fit.
I feel it's easy to travel with the infant carseat. Have not traveled w/ convert. carseat though.

We did that when we went to CA last year. She was just about the outgrow the infant seat but it's so much easier to carry than a big car seat. So we took that seat with us for the plane and car, but also brought a regular stroller so she wasn't uncomfortable in the snap n go.
