BTDT Moms how many more bottles should I buy?

I am going to FF my DS. I got the Dr. Browns gift set however it only included 2-2oz and 4-4oz bottles. How many more of each should I get?

Re: BTDT Moms how many more bottles should I buy?

the first few weeks I made about 14-15 bottles at a time, it helped not have to do dishes every ten minutes, but I dont have a dishwasher.

Now I have 9 bottles and do dishes once a day and its not too bad.

Honestly - I originally registered for that gift pack - but then I spoke to other mothers and I decided - since I didn't need the 2oz ones - I returned it to get the Newborn set.
I can't remember exactly what it came with but - it had 2 4oz bottles and a couple of the 8oz ones and we used those.

I have 8 - 8ozs all together and that worked out fine for us.

I hope this helps Chat Icon

Your baby might not like that brand of bottle though so don't go too overboard!

Re: BTDT Moms how many more bottles should I buy?

I think the 2oz is a waste.

I would have two 4oz and two 8oz and thats it.

I did the whole million bottles all over the place with the first one.

What works for me is no more than 2 bottles in sight at any given time.

We give him the bottle, wash it (super hot water) on the spot. dishwasher a few times a week, and thats that.

I hate things lying around when they are not necessary. Just seeing the countertop rack with tons of bottles and nipples gives me the heebie jeebies.

I started with just a few and found it so much easier to have at leaset a days worth. I think I ended up with at least 10. I make a whole days worth the night before and life is so much easier!

ETA: I did melt a couple of them in the dishwasher Chat Icon

I used 9 - 8oz bottles for 2 babies. I think to purchase more than that is a waste of $$.

Re: BTDT Moms how many more bottles should I buy?

I've been doing really well with 3 of the 4oz. and 3 of the 8 oz. I just wash them with really hot water and soap after I feed her and leave them to dry.

We have a dishwasher, but I've never put the bottles in there, I just wash them by hand.

Thanks everyone! So I seem to be all set so I might just buy an extra 1 or 2.

I don't run my dishwasher everynight also so I'm sure I'll be washing them by hand a lot.

I have 17 bottles, I use 15.

2 4oz Avent Bottles
5 9oz Avent Bottles
2 6oz VentAire Standards
3 8oz VentAire Standards
2 6oz VentAire Wides
3 8oz VentAire Wides.

I use them all except two of the VentAire standards that have a size 1 nipple, he doesn't suck hard enough for them. That is enough for almost two days of bottles. I would skip the 2oz bottles personally, you will only use them the first week home or so.

I also have one Playtex Drop In bottle and liners for trips when I am going to need more than one bottle.

In the beginning, I used 4- 4oz bottles. Now I use 6- 8oz bottles. Each night I wash all the bottles, pack 4 of them in the diaper bag for daycare next day and use the other 2 for last and first feeding.

I had 16 of the 8 oz ones, I didn't want to have to run the dishwasher so much. I didn't even get the 4 oz ones, you can just put 4 oz in the big bottle!Chat Icon

I never even used the 2oz or the 4oz bottles from that set since DS was so big he was eating more than 4ozs when we got home from the hospital.

I have been using all of the 8oz bottles and I just bought three more.

I agree with some of what Anna said.

We never used the 2 oz. ones because I EBF for the first three weeks but from my friends that FF...

Don't bother with the two oz. they might use them less than a week.

Don't bother with the four oz. ones, many babies start to take 5 oz. within the first month.

With the price of Dr. Brown's bottles I'd just get the 8 oz.

When they first come home a lot of babies will be on a schedule from the nursery if your are FF so most hospitals feed 3, 6, 9, 12, 3, 6, 9, 12.

So you need 8 bottles in a 24 hour period. Considering they come in a 3 pack, I'd suggest 9 or 12 bottles.

ETA: With the twins I have 13 8oz. bottles. With that many bottles and parts it's worth it to run the dishwasher even if it's just for bottles and a few dishes, it takes too much time away from them to hand wash them.

I use Playtex, which come in 4oz or 8oz. We had at least 1 full days worth of bottles with 1-2 extra. I think we have at least 7 of each.
