BTDT moms of 1 year olds who have traveled on a plane with their DC...
What one (or more) item did you bring with you on the plane that really distracted your DC the best. I'm trying to get some things together for the flights and since DD doesn't like to sit still I'm trying to have a few things I hope to occupy/distract her in case she doesn't sleep. We bought her a seat so we will have her car seat with us.
Also stupid question...those who brought their car seat on the plane - you install it forward facing right? I read somewhere someone saying they put it in backwards so they didn't kick the seat in front???? Sorry I know stupid question.
So far I have or am getting: Snacks portable dvd player small travel doodle books
TIA!!

We had snacks and a DVD player....he was fine. He REALLY liked looking out the window, a lot. I had some books and cars, but he really just threw those, so I put them away.
You are flying to Florida, right? It really isn't that bad. We didn't buy DS a seat and he got one each way and we just strapped him in and he was fine and watched the DVD player.

We flew to Hawaii with DC's (16 months).
I had a few board books, new and old. Two soft books that were also puppets. travel doodles the Cheerio books are great. play cell phone
A BTDT mom suggested that I bring snacks that require more "work" on their part... small pieces, eg. Cheerios.
No DVD player, my DC's aren't big tv watchers.
We brought two Britax Marathons on board with us. I'll warn you, they allowed us about 45 seconds to pre-board. We installed and reinstalled those car seats 10 times in ten days... we are super fast now Both were forward facing as were all of the other carseats on the plane.

Yes we are going to WDW. I am hoping we have a window going down (LONG story delta screwed up our seats and we are in the second to last row). I didn't even think of that! She is just a wiggle worm so I want to make sure to keep her busy if she is awake or she can get fussy fast!

Great suggestions! Thank you! - She is not a tv watcher either - but I thought maybe it would be a distraction since it was something different.
Cheerios are her staple snack so that is perfect!
I will look into the puppets I hadn't thought of those. DH is going to work on getting the seats in and out of the car etc quickly - right now we are in the second to last row (we were supposed to be in row 14 with my parents across the aisle) but for some reason Delta kicked us out of our seats and the only ones on the flight left are the second to last row so Delta told us to take them or risk being almost guaranteed we will be bumped. We are hoping to switch but it will be easier if we are in the back to get her in and out.
