BTDT Mom's of 2 under 2 how hard was it to breastfeed #2?
I know Roman wanted to nurse what seemed like all day long. There is no way he will have the patience as a toddler to let me do that with a newborn. I'm going to try to see how it goes. Any suggestions?

Re: BTDT Mom's of 2 under 2 how hard was it to breastfeed #2?
I was so nervous because Luka also nursed constantly and it was very hard. DD wouldn't latch right away and actually the nurses said she might not be hungry because she was only a few hours old but she had to eat before visiting hours (I delivered her at 12:22pm and visiting started at 6:30pm). I ended up giving her an oz. of formula of course I was so upset but happy that she ate. When they brought her back to me I tried again and she latched! By the time we left the hospital she was a pro and durning the day she goes between 2 and 3 hours and has been sleeping through the night for the past week and she will be 3 months old tomorrow. I would definilty try it. In a sense it is easier because you know what to do, you know what it feels like and you know what to look for when they doing something incorrectly. Definitly use laniosh cream regularly. It really helped with the soreness in the beginning and within 2 weeks I was fine. I didn't do that with DS. It is also easier to do with with DS if I am feeding DD. I did tell myself just to try and if it didn't work then so be it but it did and it might work out for you too. It definitly isn't as demanding as it was the first time in my case.

not a mom 2 under 2 but what i did with dd was i nursed her for the first month and they she got lazy and only wanted the bottle so i was able to pump in the morning before she got up. at nap time and at night and was able to feed her for the whole day. can you pump and give a bottle instead of nursing. might help.

This turned out to be true for me too--I guess it's because I knew what to expect.
I guess Katherine was confused in the beginning, but turned out to be sooooo good with the whole thing. 5 months later, Kate tells me when Abby wants to "eat on the pillow!" You know--the Boppy!
The way I see it, you have to feed the baby anyway and the older child can't get undivided attention at that time regardless of the way you feed. I actually found it easier to BF than to give Abby a bottle. I would have one hand free to turn the pages of a book for Katherine or to do a puzzle with her on the couch.
Good luck!!!

I didn't BF, but like another poster said, you have to feed the baby anyway. I thought my older son would be pulling the baby down off of me, but he is really patient about waiting...mostly because he becomes very concerned for the baby when he cries and generally wants to help out- so I let him hold the bottle. I know that doesn't exactly help you..but maybe let him put the bib on or get you a burpy cloth. ETA: my boys are 19 months apart
