BTDT Moms of Multiples....Just wondering
whether you nursed...and if it was more difficult because you were nursing more than one baby.

Re: BTDT Moms of Multiples....Just wondering
I had several issues going on at once, they were in the NICU, I had invertes nipples, my milk never came in like it should, etc. One son was taken off food for 3 weeks so we tried when he got home, but we needed to make his food higher calorie so we had to add powder to it, so I pumped for him and then my other son he never latched great and since I never prodcued enough he was alwasy screaming. So I pumped what I could and gave them both. This is what worked for us.
Breastfeeding both is definitly possible and doable, I just ahd a very messed up situation with them being in the NICU, and then one coming home first etc etc etc......
I have heard that it is time saver if you can get them to both nurse at the same time. I am not sure this ever would have worked for me, since it took alot of positioning for my boys but they were little guys. I really liked pumping since I got little 15 minute break for myself, I would do some crafts or watch tv, I made all my birth announcments while pumping.
If you want to breastfeed you can do it making 16 bottles a day was not fun, especially since they have always been on different formulas!

Re: BTDT Moms of Multiples....Just wondering
I breastfed both of them. I had sooo much support in the hospital. The nurses, and lactation consultants were always there to help me, and teach me how to do it. I was lucky in that my milk came in right away, but unlucky in that I got engorged and had to use the hospital pump. Ouch! Anyway, it was hard but it is definetly possible. Even though they showed me how to do both at once I prefered to do one at a time. It was just more relaxing for me that way.

Michelle....Sorry it took so long to reply...I've been running around and not on here much. I am sorry you had such a difficult time in the beginning. Thank goodness everything worked out well. I appreciate you sharing your experience with me...you've been so great!
Tracey...thanks for the feedback too! I am glad you were able to work things out. I guess it is do-able. I am still up in the air on how I feel. I want to try, but hear so many stories on how it is going to be so difficult with twins.

Re: BTDT Moms of Multiples....Just wondering
I only was able to do it for 2 weeks - then my daughter had breastmilk jaundice, so she went on formula for a week. I still did my son for another couple of weeks. I guess about a month, maybe a month and a half. After that I exclusively pumped for a couple more months. I was totally exhausted and decided to give them formula after that!
