BTDT Moms of Pacifier Babies....

Another question for you -

DD is 8 months and just loves the pacifier - i sometimes feel its the only way to get her to sleep, calm her down etc......

Was wondering at what age did you remove the pacifier from existence in your house.....

How did you go about doing so.

Thanks.

Re: BTDT Moms of Pacifier Babies....

I asked my Dr about it. My son takes it for naps, and sometimes at night. He said that he sees no problem with him continuing with it for the next year (hes 13 months). Being that he only takes it during those times, I am ok with that. Plus, I am due in November, so I was nervous about weaning my son off it, and then him seeing the new baby with it.

At about 10 months I got rid of it during the day. Now at 12 he gets it at bedtime only.

at 8 months ped told us to only use it for bedtime and naps - to promote talking.

at 16 months I was looking for one for DS's nap and I couldn't find one and just got him to sleep without it...he went cold turkey (I never thought he could do it, but it was that easy). A few days later, I made a pile of the ones I found and DS found them, put one in his mouth, took it out, put it back on the pile and walked away.

We have slacked with #2, b/c he grinds his teeth - he's 13 m and I don't foresee a nea future w/o it.

Antonina, as you know Michael is going to be 2 and he still has it. I think we are going to get rid of it right after his b-day.
