BTDT Moms- Pampers or Huggies Diapers??
Just wondering which brand you preferred and why? Did you try both? Only tried one and loved it?

I like to use Pampers Swaddlers and then switch to the cruiser. I used huggies in the hospital and I did not like them. Swaddlers were better for a boy IMO

I loved Pampers swaddlers but switched to Huggies once she started crawling. We had a few incidents where the Pampers Cruiser literally disintegrated on her. She had the absorbant gel all over her .
We'll definitely use the Pampers swaddlers for #2, but I love the Huggies for when they're older.

Don't buy anything besides a few packages before DC is born.
ALLLLL babies are different and it is a bad idea to stock up on diapers before your child is born. DS only wore Swaddlers for a short amount of time, then we used Luvs for a better part of his first year, but switched to Cruisers once he was crawling/walking.
Plus you don't know your DC's size. My DS is pretty true to size and still in a size 4, where some babies who look exactly the same are in 3's or 5's.
Basically, even though you want to plan ahead, don't!

ITA with Kate. I only had one package of NB size and a few packages of size ones. Once baby gets here and you get a better idea of fit is when you can stock up.
Right now- stock up on coupons. Also- buy a few gift cards to use later. I did that with #1 and it was a great way to sock some $$ away to use on the little necessities that came up once DD got her.

Totally OT- but recently I bought some Pampers for DD (our ghtto fab supermarket ws OUT of Huggies). I always let her hold the new diaper while I'm cleaning her up. She saw the Elmo on them and started KISSING and hugging the clean diaper!

Thats a GREAT idea!! I just figured I'd stock up so I wouldnt feel it so much once our lil one is born! But now I'll just stock up on G/Cs and save all coupons!

I heard good things about Pampers so I put some on my registry. I got a box before I gave birth so I used them when I came home. I LOVE Pampers. We got a diaper cake made of Huggies diapers and they got hard when Kaydyn would pee in them. So we threw them out and stayed with the Pampers. We've now moved on to the Cruisers and have not had any problems.

Huggies OVERNIGHTS for nighttime. They can hold about 2 tons of pee

I use both and really dont have a preference. He does well with both brands.
I agree with the dont stock up. DS was in newborn diapers for maybe a month. They grow so fast in the beginning. DS grew 1 inch in 2 weeks. He was born Aug 24 and weighed 7 lbs 8 oz. He is now close to 10lbs. You also dont know what your baby will like or feel comfortable in. Like others have mentioned stock up on coupons and GCs.

I have used both and most definitely prefer Pampers to Huggies. I feel like they are softer. I used Swaddlers in the beginning and now use either Baby Dry or Cruisers....not sure which one I like better. That being said, I will occasionally buy Huggies if there is a ridiculous sale somewhere.

Don't stock - you don't know what's going to be your DC's preference.
Huggies worked like a charm for my DD
Someone had given me a package of Pampers Swaddlers... yeah, on a few occasions she leaked right through them (in the garbage they went)
Tried the BRU Especially for Baby brand... HORRIBLE
Then tried Luvs... work WONDERFULLY and at less cost than Huggies!
I do stick with the Huggies Overnights at nighttime though.... like Diana said... they would hold the contents of the Hoover Dam i think.... it's just hard finding them in Size 3.

oh i completely agree!!!!! don't stock up on diapers yet!!!! don't buy more than a pack of newborns and a pack of size ones now. you never know what your child is going to use and what size.
diapers are ALWAYS on sale. one week it's huggies, the next pampers, etc.
DS wears everything---pampers, huggies and luvs. he has no problems with any of them. right now he's in size 2 and he's 3.5 months old. he wore newborn for a month, size one for 2 months and the last few weeks have been size 2. other babies skip newborn altogether but mine was a 7 pound peanut. the hospital uses size 1s on the babies, but newborn was much better for him when i got home.
honestly, don't go by other people AT ALL. when your baby is here, buy a jumbo (not big at all--the smallest bag) pack of huggies, pampers and luvs and alternate them. see what works and what doesn't. but don't give up if there's one accident. try them a few times to be sure it wasn't just too long by the time you changed him. that's a problem no matter what diaper you buy.
stocking up on coupons is the way to go. go to the websites of the companies and sign up--they'll mail you coupons every once in a while.
BTW....i HATED swaddlers. HATED them in newborn size--DS leaked right through them. but then i tried them again with the size 2s and i love them. so experiences change as the baby changes
