OK BTDT Mom's...did I OD on Diapers
I have one box of 92 newborn diapers.
2 boxes of 216 size 1 diapers - 432 total
and additionally another 100 size 1-2 diapers given to me buy a friend.
Should I return one of the size 1 216 count box and get a size 2?
Right now if I go to 40 weeks they're estimating she's going to be almost 9 lbs...I'm wondering also if the newborn diapers are even worth it or if I should skip straight to size 1. HELP! TIA!

You probably wont need the newborn diapers. My children where all between 8-9lbs and came home in size 1.

Should I just keep one box of the 216 count size 1? Do you think 2 boxes are too much?

DS was 6 lbs at birth and I only used one small package of newborn diapers then right to size 1, he was in size 1 at the hospital

I probably wouldn't return them until you find you won't be able to use them. Most stores will exchange diapers for diapers.
DD was in newborn forever and then size one for a few months. I think at around 3 mos she went up to size 2's.

I would return some of those. You only need one box of newborn diapers to start off. Then you can move to the Stage 1 diapers which you will probably need like 2 boxes. DS is at stage 2 and he is 4 months. We go through a box of 216 in like one month or so.

Honestly - I would hold onto them all.
DD was in Newborn for a little while and then size 1 for a little while.
I think you will use them all. And if you don't use the Newborn ones - you can ALWAYS exchange them for the next size

I would wait and see how big your DC is. I buy everything in bulk ahead of time. My son outgrows diapers like every week (and then I just end up returning them for the size I need) - your child may be different though

We used newborn diapers for a few weeks. DD was 7lbs,8oz, but lost some weight before she left the hospital (as many babies do).

DS was 6lbs 10 oz ( came home at 6-2) and we used the newborn diapers for 2 weeks after he was home. He was in the size ones until 2 mos, and has been in the size 2s since. He is very close to moving to the size 3s at almost 5 mos.

Re: OK BTDT Mom's...did I OD on Diapers
Definitely hold on to all of the receipts.
Lucas never wore the newborn size (so I had a package that was never opened and one that was when I thought it would be a good idea to set them up on his table). He also barely made a dent in the size 1-2 so I had a ton left over.
We went through a lot of size 1 and 2. I would say about 30/40 per week. So that's how I plan now. When there is a sale I stock up but only for a period of 2 months in one size. Never more than that.
My advice would be to hold on to all of the receipts so that you can exchange or return if you need to.

Re: OK BTDT Mom's...did I OD on Diapers
We are going about a size a month here..
DS was 7lbs 11oz at birth and we used the newborn diapers until they ran out..he was 4 weeks and we were stretching it a bit to get them on him..he was 10lbs 9 oz & 22 inches
DS is presently in size 1..I have almost 60 diapers left..he is about 14lbs and 24+ inches..If I didnt have 60 diapers left I would be buying size 2..he will be 2 months tomorrow. I figure, based on changing him 6-7 x per day that I can get through those last 60 diapers in about a week and a half.
You cant go solely by weight when it comes to diapers. My girls were always well over the weight limit before I could switch their diapers. They have a short pelvic area or something. My eldest daughter never got passed size 4 the size 5 would of been up to her arm pits...and she wasnt potty trained until she was 4!!!! Stubborn child!!!!

Re: OK BTDT Mom's...did I OD on Diapers
Keep all of the size 1 and above. We never used newborns but have used a lot of size 1 in one month. More than 200. I guess we change him too much

Re: OK BTDT Mom's...did I OD on Diapers
We used newborn size for while. By the time DD was into stage 1 I ended up not liking Swaddlers and ended up switching to Huggies. So for us, I had SO many different sizes in Swaddlers that I ended up giving them away because DD leaked so bad with them.
It's all trial and error.
