BTDT Mom's What do I need to bring to the hospital for my babies?

I already have:

Their coming home outfits
2 gowns
2 preemie outfits
2 newborn play sets
2 newborn pajamas

Is this enough? Do I need socks or caps? TIA

I live in teh Raligh area which gets chilly but not as cold as NY. I was planning on having them comne home in:

Long sleeved onesie, pants and long sleeved shirt outfit, knitted cap and sweater, socks and covered by a warm blanket. Is this enough? Do I need to get them winter coats? Or maybe a snuggle thing for the carseat?

You def don't need winter coats IMO. Especially if you are using a bundle me which I highly recommend. Even a lightweight one since you are in NC. I would bring hats for them and I would probably not bring play sets or PJs. That seems like a lot of stuff. Sydnie spent 3 days in a side snap tee-shirt (provided by hospital) and swaddled in their blankets. I brought socks, a onesie, pants, and socks to bring her home in and that was it for her.

if you bring a bundle me with you.. dont bring into hospital .. the nurses will say something b/c the carseat is not approved with bundle me. I know my hospital would have gave me a hard time if they saw that on my car seat.

That does seem like a lot of stuff, you def won't need that much...I live in NC too and I think if you just get a bundle me for the car seats and put them in something light, you will be fine.

Thats what I was thinking too-I asked my SIL but she's a freak about dressing babies and she told me i would need outfits....Ok I think I am going to pare down. I still don't know if I am having a c orv birth so that will make a difference too as I was kind of preparing for the c if necessary

Personally, I only needed the following:

Coming Home outfit
Carseat
Light Blanket

DS was born in June though. For December I would include a bundle me. Don't bring your own stuff for them to wear in the hospital......they will put them in the side snap shirts....you may have stuff lost otherwise!

Here's what I've got for DS

A receiving blanket (I know the hospital has them but I like my own)
Going home outfit
Picture outfit
Pacifiers (our hospital doesn't give them out)
diapers (our green hospital uses cloth)
car seat w/bundle me on it
2 hats
socks

I think that's it

Oh extra paper for a set of footprints for the baby book

Same here.

I would add an empty bag for diapers, alcohol swabs & anything else the nurses will let you take.

The nurses gave us at least 3 cases of the preemie formula & everything else that wasn't nailed down.

Re: BTDT Mom's What do I need to bring to the hospital for my babies?

I personally wouldn't bring half of that stuff.

The entire time they are there they are going to be in the hospital shirts (or onesies) that they give out.

They will also be swaddled in the hospital blankets the entire time.

I brought DSs coming home outfit (obviously) and I did change him into a t-shirt that someone bought for us because it was too cute and we wanted to surprise my dad one day when he came to visit (it said "Lil' Golfer" and my dad is a huge golfer"

You should bring hats and blankets too since it's the winter (oh - and socks) - other than that you won't need a thing.

Like Barb said - bring an empty duffle bag and stock it with whatever is not nailed down. Also - It was a huge help to have the boppy there. I would imagine with two it would be really useful!

HTH a little! Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: BTDT Mom's What do I need to bring to the hospital for my babies?

Like others mentioned, I kept it very basic when I had DD. She stayed in the hospital shirt & swaddled in their blanket the whole time we were there. I changed her into her coming home outfit, threw a blanket & hat on her, and we were off.

Oh, and don't forget the Boppy! If you plan to BF it will be a lifesaver, and even if you don't I think it would be useful, since the hospital bed bedrails aren't very helpful when you're sitting up, IMO.

I'd bring:
- outfit for pictures
- a coverall outfit with covered feet, with a onesie underneath and matching cap to come home in. (DD wore a pink version of the outfit in the pics below)

We had a winter bunting/coverall too, but she would've been fine with just a warm blanket over her in the carseat. We did not bring the bundle me to the hospital.

ITA about the Boppy!

OK-thank you everyone-FYI I am having twins which is why I had 2 of everything if anyone didn't knowChat Icon

As far as coming home-I have that specific outfit because it is a combo of items from my Mom(hand knitted) and my MIL and SIL(stuf from Denny's) Now I need to figure out something for pictures then.... So I guess I will bring a few blankets and to go home what I said originally and just a warm blanket.

Great advice on the extra bag-will definitely do that. Thank you allChat Icon
