BTDT Moms who have bf longer than 6 months
i have a quick question actually 2
I wanted to know if it is normal for the milk supply to decrease?
Is there a way to increase milk so far into bfing?
ive noticed in the last week a reduction in milk anywhere from 6-8 oz a day. is this normal?

I totally had this happen at around six months too! I pumped lots, but then had a sharp decrease! I tried fenugreek and pumping more, but for me, it didn't make a difference. For me, this was the point when I knew it was time to wean him onto formula. In the end, it was just the right time for me to give up...even though it took me a month to get him on the formula

This happened to me, but at one point I had started to supplement. To increase my supply, I drank fennel tea.

I'm at 6 months now and I feel like my supply has been dwindling over time. I hardly ever pump so I have no way of knowing for sure. I've been starting to give ds more solids now and I'm afraid of it hurting my supply more.

At one point this happened to me and I just drank more water and ate more oatmeal. eventually it came back after pumping more as well inbetween nursing.

I never really pumped so I'm not sure if my supply decreased - but I did notice around 6mos that HE stopped nursing as much.

We are at 6 months of exclusive nursing and DD is nursing just as much as eve! I figure my supply is meeting her needs as she is gaining weight like mad on my milk alone

I noticed a gradual decrease over time, I drank more water, oatmeal and added some extra pumping sessions to get it back a little but it was hard. Looking back, I made myself crazy about it, it would have been much easier to just suppliment with 1 bottle.

same here, but she is now eating 3 meals a day of solids so she also gave up one nursing session.
