BTDT- when did you plan to leave work and when did you actually leave work?

Im really hoping I can work right up until the very end that way I can have more time with baby once hes born but Im afraid that might not happen. So, when did you ladies plan on leaving work and did that become a reality for you or were you forced to leave work earlier than you expected?

I planned to work until my due date of jan 19. My last day was the fri before Halloween.

I was due August 1st

I was planning to work up until July 30th or so.

I worked on Monday July 21st all day and Seamus was born on Tuesday July 22nd at 9:30 am. So it worked our perfectly for me!!

I commuted to the city until 39 weeks. I worked from home that week I was due and the week following. I was induced at 41 weeks. So I worked all the way to the end!

I was due April 14th, I planned to work up until I had DD. My last day of work was April 8th, I was too uncomfortable sitting at a desk all day. I went into labor on my own on April 16th.

I only work PT now, but I had planned on working through next week (36+ weeks for me). But I was at a good stopping point and I am so big and so ready, so my last day was today. I will go in next week to clear a few things, but working is done! Hopefully it gives me time to get some things ready home here. With my luck, I'll deliver this week!

I planned to work until 39 weeks and that's what I did. DS was born a week later. I probably could have worked that last week, but I wanted some time to myself and to get things ready. I was able to use vacation time for those days though so it didn't affect my leave at all.

I planned on working til the day my water broke. I actually hoped I could get my water to break on my bosses desk. But doctors put me on modified bed rest at week 34. Freaked me out because I had no paid maternity leave. But we survived.

Both times, I planned to work till I went into labor, and it worked out both times. With my first, I was due 1/17. I worked through 1/20 and woke up on the 21st in labor. My son was born that night.
With my second, I was due 11/24. I worked past my due date and on 12/1, at my OB appt, I found out I was 3cm dilated and starting to contract. When I woke up the next morning, I was starting to feel contractions but they weren't bad yet nor were they in any pattern yet. So I went to work and after an hour, my boss sent me home because she could see in my face that I was contracting during a meeting . My son was born around noon the next day.

With DS 1 I was due Oct. 20. I taught dance until Oct. 24, went in the hospital to start the induction on the evening of the 25 and delivered on the 26. I went back to work 3 weeks later. With DS 2 I was due Feb. 26. I taught until March 1, went to bed and woke up in labor. I delivered DS 4 hours later on March 2. I was back at work 4 weeks later.

I was getting ready for work when my water broke at 40 weeks with dd.

I worked until I gave birth to my son at 38 weeks 4 days.

I planned to work until the end. I was taken out of work 1 month early and put on bedrest. I'm hoping to work until the end this time, but I know I'll be monitored closely for growth starting at 32 weeks and will likely deliver early.

My last day of work was this Thursday Im having a scheduled c section on Monday.

didn't plan to leave...

got put on bedrest on a Friday(actually when I ran to the drs on my lunch break) at 35 1/2 weeks.

then on Monday night they ended up inducing me after seeing more test results.

I worked thru one pregnancy, but I was able to work from home the last month. So I went right up until I was in labor.

With my DD I was due March 18th. My last day of work was going to be Friday, March 13th. My DD had other plans- my water broke in my classroom at noon on Wednesday, March 11th. She was born March 12th @1:35am.
I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant with twins. My dr made me stop working at 24 weeks.

i just went through this. i really wanted and planned to work up until the end too! my due date is 2/18 so i wanted to work until fri, 2/17. i made it to 2/3. i was killing myself commuting almost 3 hours a day, being on my feet, stairs, stress of work, etc. and i could barely make it through the days and i was completely shot in the evenings. i was having a lot of problems sleeping during the nights too.
i was trying to go go go until the baby came, but then it would really be go go go for the next 20 years! lol i realized with the help of dh and friends and family that i really needed some time to relax and decompress and mentally prepare myself for this little baby. plus i had a to-do list a mile long i was not going to ever get around to taking care of if i kept working. this first week off has been very helpful, but i still don't know if im 100% ready for the baby to show up quite yet!
along story short, i am very thankful and dont regret for a second that i stopped working two weeks early. you'll have to figure out your own decision, but best of luck! for me, it will be worth it to possibly go unpaid for a bit and keep my sanity these last few days before she makes her debut.

i planned on working til the end. i was due on june 30. i went into work on june 20th and left for an emergency dr visit and ended up having the baby on june 22.

my thoughts were to stick it out as much as i could physically handle so i can spend all my leave with the baby

I worked past my due date. I was having cramping on and off and went home early from work and it turned out I was in early labor. So I worked until the end as I had hoped to do. I could have went out early but then I would have lost out on getting paid and then money really came in handy..

For #1 - Due 12/23, Planned on working until 12/18. Worked until 12/15 - had him 12/18.


For 2&3 - Due 3/23. Planned on working until at least 3/1. Have been out of work since 11/17 with complications.

With DS #1, I stopped working two weeks before DS arrived. ( A day before my due date)
With this one I'm working till 3 weeks before due date. (Only one more week of work!!!) I'm way more tired this time around since I have another little one to take care of and I work overnights.

I work for the state and you have to put in for maternity leave at least 5 weeks before you plan to take it. So you have to know exactly when you want to stop working. Unless you go out early because of something medical.

I give the girls so much credit that are able to work till the end. I don't know how you do it. Those last 2 weeks of pregnancy are no fun!

My due date was 1/6, I had planned to work up until the friday before 12/31/11.

My last full day was 12/29, I was really uncomfortable and exhausted those last few days though. I went to my doctor's appointment on the 30th and they told me I was going to be induced that day.
