BTDT's - when is baby allowed to be out and around other people?
How old is the baby after all it's shots are done? when it's allowed to be around other people and outside. I'm trying to figure out the earliest/safest time we can have a christening i'm due june 30th and contemplating a backyard bbq for the christening

My ped said 8 weeks for malls and lots of people. We had her out at stores earlier than that but covered. For a christening..Id wait until at least 8 weeks

They are getting shots throughout their first year and beyond.
I don't think they are ever really done.
The shots also won't protect them from cold germs, etc.
I had a late June baby and we had her out and about- cautiously- very soon after birth.
The nurses told me since it wasn't cold and flu season, we could take her out (within reason) right away.
They did say to avoid crowds and the mall, excessive touching of the baby, until at least 6 weeks.

I had june and july babies...all the christenings were around labor day weekend.
We were at the local pool and beach from the first week. They were covered up and in the shade and everyone kept their distance. The first big family get together was the baptism which was probably around 2 months old and 3 months old.
And even then, i just didn't let everyone hold her.

we were told as long as everyone isn't touching ur child its really fine to go out and go about your bussiness. Our DS will be 6 weeks when he goes to his cousins bday party and doc said that was fine

Had all 3 of mine out and about right away. I would not be passing the baby around to everyone and their mother, but taking them out, leaving them covered, or wearing your baby in a sling is fine.

Well, DS was born 4/19...He was at easter that weekend at a family members home with about 15 people..
He is now 4 weeks old (tomorrow) and he has been to a communion (although he slept the whole time and was in his covered car seat untouched) and a birthday party, with more events in the next few weeks.
DS#1 was born 12/20 and he was out and about right away, unless I knew someone was ill, we took him everywhere and he didnt get his first cold until he was over 9 months old.
My ped was fine with it.
