BTDTs! Anyone's DC drink from a cup with no lid?
Christopher is not so much a fan of the sippy cup, but he loves to drink water out of a cup if we hold it up to his mouth (it is the cutest thing )
So, herein lays my question Did anyone skip the sippy and go to a regular plastic cup? And how?

Katherine--at 2.5--still doesn't drink that way!
No harm trying early though! I will say that the sippy cup thing can take a while to perfect...
ETA...the children in her playgroup and at her school are her age and don't drink from cups without a top either...although they do practice at school

Actually, Cailen likes to do this too - I find he is rather good at it - the thing is, I don't completely trust him with a lidless cup because he is a jokester and likes to dump, but with supervision I don't do a sippy - if I have to do things and he wanst to wander around with a drink - then he gets water in a sippy....

Emma LOVES no lid too! Especially in the bath when I'm rinsing her hair and she pries the cup out of my hands to drink the bath water

I used to work at a Montessori based Day Care and they never gave them sippy cups. They used glass, chunky glasses that almost resemble candle votive holders.

I saw these. A friend's baby goes to Montessori at CA. Cute little cups.
DD doesn't like the sippy. She drinks from a cup we hold. Sometimes we let her hold her own small plastic cup if there is only a small amount of liquid in it. She is getting the hang of it.

Ella loves to, but it can get messy. I can only put a sip in at a time if I let her hold it.

Please take my advice and work on him liking the sippy cup..my kids are 10,9,9, &5...I wish they still had to use sippy cups. They spill stuff every where!!!!! They are kids and they just dont pay close enough attention to not spill their milk, juice, water, etc.

Steven drinks with no lid by himself. You can only put a tiny bit in or else, he can't swallow it all and spits it out Or keeps tipping it and it goes all over his shirt

Hannah loves to drink from a cup without a lid as well, but I only her to do it supervised with only a little in it otherwise there's a mess and choking!!
She drinks from her sippy with no problems and loves her sippy - so I'm sticking with the sippy for a long long time
