How did you get DC to drink out of a sippy cup?

We keep giving it to Ella and she puts the tip in her mouth but she just chews it, I don't think she knows to suck on it.

I just kept giving the sippy. Sometime I would put it in my child's mouth it took awhile but we have actually started moving on to regular cups now!!

Keep at it, it's not as instinctual as the bottle was.

I try to keep giving it to DS. He knows how to drink from it but he does not want it all the time but I keep trying.

Definitely keep at it...also you can try cups with different spouts. We had the best success with the NUBY cups that have silicone spouts (more like her bottle), but there are a lot of different cup styles out there.

I also found that she needed to learn to tip her head back a little to drink and this was a tough adjustment, so possibly try to practice when DC is sitting in something that allows the head to go back a bit (not a full recline but think about your own head motion when you drink from a cup....it did not seem that this was instinct for DD...and be patient, I find that when I left the cup out on the high chair tray she would play with it and eventually put it up to her mouth to sip at it on her own but she didn't really chug it like her bottle. I would also hold it up to her mouth at the right angle to get her to suck from it....it took time and even though when I knew she knew HOW to drink from it, she wouldn't necessarily drink from it. DD hasn't figured out how to drink with a sippy where she has to tip her head back...but she loves to drink out of the ones with a straw. So...we are sticking to those for now.

I will try the tilt ones again in a few weeks.
