Try some of the free programs...MSN Money or Yahoo Finance....You are basically going to try and see where your money is coming from and where it is going and then you can budget from there.

My budget is as follows:
Get paid on the 20th of each month
Pay any bills that need to be paid
Continue to spend money until I have none left
Borrow money from husband to put gas in the car and/or buy groceries.
TADA...thats my budget

I have mine all figured out
it 1st check pay what's due and save the rest
2nd check- pay car, CC bills and then have to take the money I just saved to pay Amex
not working so well
I think I would be better off if I gave myself more spending money and was more realistic about what I really need to live each month
then maybe I wouldn't go over every month

Ahhh you see this is how it goes in our house. my money is my money, his money is my money...can I borrow 20 quid please. Sorry honey...did I mention that I just had your baby...whats that...take 30 quid? thanks I love you honey.

We used to use MS money, we use Quicken now that we are working on a Mac and like quicken much more.
I love seeing our trends, to be able to correct bad habits and over spending. I also like being able to see 1 year 5 year 10 year...predictions.
