Re: Bumper or no?
i'm not sure bumpers really served a purpose other than allowing me to hide while checking up on my kids.
One tip for later on is to put them with their feet to the bottom section of the crib so when they practice crawling, they aren't bonking their heads.

In my opinion no. They aren't needed.

Re: Bumper or no?
I use mine because it came with the bedding set and it looks so cute. The thing I don't like about it is that I can't use my Aquarium because it won't fit on the crib with the bumper on.

Re: Bumper or no?
If not tied correctly, yes they can be unsafe for infants. They can get caught between the bumper & the side of the crib.
Also for toddlers, they use them to step on & scale the side of the crib.
They look cute - and I'm sure you could use it since she's so little & not moving yet - I just can't suggest doing it...knowing that there can be a danger.

Re: Bumper or no?
Jared always slides himself up and the bumper protects him from hitting his head on the crib.

Re: Bumper or no?
I had one cuz it came with the bedding and I liked it cuz marissa did move around alot and it would cushion her if she rolled over to the rails

Re: Bumper or no?
Steph use it and tuck it into the mattress this way there is no way for Katie to get under it. That's what we did. I used it because she is a restless sleeper and bangs her head into the slats without it.

Re: Bumper or no?
I used bumpers till she was about nine months then my PED said to remove them so she would not put her head underneath. NEwborns do not move much in their sleep so you should not have a problem with them in there now.

Re: Bumper or no?
Anadrew is almost 20 months and I STILL have the bumpers in his crib! He loves them, he sleeps with the top of his head against them (for comfort I guess). He has never once got stuck in them or under them, and has no desire to use them to climb out, thankfully.
When baby #2 arrives in May, Andrew will move to a big boy bed and I'm wondering how he'll fare not having bumpers to rest his head against.
