Burp Cloths/Bibs...

I know BRU has a checklist but I wanted some actual input from people....
I registered for those cloth diapers to use as burp rags (based on BTDT recommendation) but was wondering if anyone also registered for the colored and patterened burp rags .....I am not sure if the patternsare all you pay for...and honestly it's for spit!.....
Also....how many bibs did you register for? And lastly.....do you start using bibs right away?

I registered for cloth diapers as well to use as burp cloths based on all my friends recos that they are the best and most absorbent. But, I stil did ask for and get some of the patterned flannel ones, just to change it up.

I didn't register for any bibs and got a ton!!!!! People just buy them and add them on to your gifts or will put them in your wishing well (if you have one). I plan on using bibs right away. It's really a personal preference. I have friends that just don't use them. Their kids drool and spit up all over, but they just don't like bibs for whatever reason. They'd rather just change their outfit. I personally, would rather just put on a new bib so I have a bunch. Up to you.

I started using bibs right away. I would get a lot!!!! I have at least 15 bibs, but some of them are too big for him right now. Since you're having twins I would get at least 30 of all sizes. You'll use them!!!

We only used the cloth diapers. I had one or two of the actual burp rags, but I really didn't like them.

I never used the burp cloths...i used the receiving blankets as burp cloths but I also had a big spitter-upper! I used bibs right away.

Re: Burp Cloths/Bibs...

at the beginning my experience was that you could never have enough burp cloths - i used them for a million purposes. i agree that you're just paying for the pattern, the regular cloth diapers work absolutely fine.

i didn't find any need for bibs, really, until the baby was 4-5 months old, when he started eating cereal. BUT one thing i discovered was that the cereal/baby food thing really doesn't last too long, only 3-4 months. before you know it, they are eating table food and making a MESS and the cloth bibs get totally gross. it totally grossed me out to wash them, and plus, SO many foods stain really badly (sweet potatoes, lots of fruits, etc).

so the best solution for me was buying a few plastic bibs that i rinse off (with soap) as soon as ds is done eating. saves me a ton of gross, stained cloth bibs. i love them. lately i've also started using the disposable bibs when i'm feeling lazy...

I registered for the disposable bibs. I don't want to constantly wash them.

we already received about 10 bibs or so. i'm expecting i'll receive more at my shower.

We hardly used bibs...cloth diapers on the other hand used ALL of the time. Get as many as you can. I found the cutsey decorative burp clothes to be useless.

We have tons of bibs and burp cloths. My DD would sometimes spit up 30/45 minutes after eating. Its much easier to change the bib than the outfit and its less laundry that way. She is now 8 months and doesn't spit up as much, but is drooling like crazy from teething - again, bibs make less laundry and are easier to change. I would get a ton of bibs!

Re: Burp Cloths/Bibs...

for me the cloth diapers (the ones that say prefold) worked the best. the ones that are colored and/or have designs are so so - it depends on the ones you pick. when you feel them make sure they are not the thin ones b/c then anything goes right through. they sell nice ones that are a little thicker that feel more towelish - those were better.

we went through tons and tons of bibs.
