Bus question

I was wondering if anyone knows the max time a child in ei is supposed to be on the bus for. I remember them telling me it was a law and it was 1 hour. Now after talking to someone from the county they are saying it is 1 1/2 hours and it's not a law. I'm waiting for my dh to get home to get me the paperwork. The lady on the phone made me feel like I was stupid. She said that is why you have to read your paperwork before signing. I always do this which is why I feel like I was told 1 hour.

Re: Bus question

I was told 90 minutes but it's not a law. I am not sure how many kids really spend 90 minutes n the bus. But they might depending how far their school are either

Re: Bus question

My kid is one of those kids. He gets picked up at 745 for a 9am start. The program is 2 1/2 hours. Ride back ranges from 1:15-1 1/2 hours. He's first pickup in morning last in afternoon. Totally blows but he loves the bus. It's not a law. We live 20 minutes away but I have 3 kids one that has camp and will be on a bus in September plus a little baby. Driving is not an option for me.

Re: Bus question

i was told NO more than 2 hours if they are crossing county line and no more than an hour and a half within the same county, but that doesnt really include traffic and what not...

we live less than a mile from where he goes (i can walk there if i wanted to) but he LOVES the bus so we bus him.. he gets picked up at 8:15 & school starts at 9am... but i followed the bus once and he got to school in a half hour.

Re: Bus question

k. We are more worried because the lateness of the bus lately has interfered with his home services. I don't want to move them up in time because we would likely lose the people we have and we have had the same people for the past couple of years.

Re: Bus question

I told the bus company this crap is. Ot acceptable come September. I will call every day if I have to to complain. Then because it's 1 hr 18 minutes they just added another kid.

Re: Bus question

I am the special ed teacher on my district's CPSEs for the summer and the county paperwork we complete states that the bus route may be up to 90 minutes. I can check on the exact wording of it next week when I go in, but I don't think it makes any statements of no more than or anything like that.

That said, as a parent, I would complain about the length of time. Call both the transportation company and the district transportation office as well as the psychologist in charge of CPSEs.
