Butcher block countertop?

As I was picking out granite I fell in love with and dh and I saw wood butcher block counters at ikea.

Does anyone have any info on these?

This is only a temporary 2yr kitchen, we will be expanding and fully redoing it so for now I think I want to try out the wood.

I have them, from Ikea. We have had them 2 years and they are holding up fine. They do get dull (especially where it gets wet a lot), but we put mineral oil on them about twice a year and that makes them look great.
