buying a neighbor a Christmas gift
we just bought our house about 6 months ago. our neighbors have been great. they welcomed us on our first night with a bottle of champagne with another couple from across the street.
they invited us to a woodstock barbeque. also, lent us their fire pit for a small party i had for my mother.
i was thinking of getting them a little something to show our gratitude. not sure if this is necessary or is this just the "neighborly thing to do". i
thanks!

I would definitely getting them something a little basket of cheer or some baked goodies.

Do you bake cookies? If so I would give them a nice assortment in a decorative tin. Or maybe a really pretty pointsettia. I think it's neighborly without being too much. Or if they have kids, sometimes getting something for the kids is a good route. Something small, I honestly don't think you need to do something bigger.

I love homemade gifts. I would do baked goods. Personally I like giving fudge in festive containers.

Thanks for the suggestions!
unforuntately i'm not a baker
but i'm thinking of getting a small gourmet basket for them.
we went through a really tough time with the mortgage & closing. it was so nice to have people waiting for you to arrive with champage. it made it all worth while

Re: buying a neighbor a Christmas gift
As the neighbor who did this for a new couple who moved in next door, I can tell you that I would feel bad if they got me something... I know you said you're not a baker but maybe you can get your Mom to come over & help?? I would feel bad if they bought me something, I would totally appreciate a homemade goodie, though!
