Buying a new car-can't decide
DH and I are deciding between the honda accord and the CRV. I am a terrible decision maker. The difference in price is only a couple thousand and the difference in MPG is only about 3 extra MPG with the accord.
Anyone have these vehicles? Pros/cons?
Help me decide, please!
FYI, I currently drive a focus and we just had a baby so we'd like some extra room, mostly trunk space. I drive 50 miles roundtrip to work but will only be working 3 days per week and one of those day my co-worker drives.
Thanks for any insight!

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
i have the CRV and i totally love it, i was recently in a accident and the car did exactly what i thought, I walked away from the accident with very minor brusing, nothing broken.
We will most likely be getting a new car next year and will def be going with the CRV again.
OOo ya, maybe i should mentioned my hubby works for honda, maybe thats why i love them

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
I would get the CRV - I think they are really cute!
ETA - I have a similar Nissan Rogue, and I find it easier to put DD in her carseat in my car compared to a regular sedan.

I have the CR-V and love it. But next car will probably be the accord. But for us, it wouldn't be one or the other.

That's one of the reasons I'm leaning towards the CRV.
Thanks for the input ladies!

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
My landlord just got the CRV and I think it's fabulous.. it's not a big suv and it's got enough trunk space and room for a baby seat..

I would opt for the accord. I thought the CRV was underpowered.

Really? I didn't notice that the CRV was underpowered. I think I'll test drive them both again with that in mind.

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
I went from driving a volvo to the CRV and LOVE it - mine was a 2003 (DH drives that one now). DH needed to get a better car for work (he was driving to westchester a few days a week for a while) and he loved mine so much we got another 2006. I drive that one now and have no complaints - it easily holds our DD's car seat, stroller, booster seat, and tons of other stuff. It gets pretty good gas mileage and drives like a car more than an SUV.

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
I have a CR-V. I love it! It's super convenient with the trunk. Whatever it is... the stroller, bags of soil/plants at the nursery. It's just so convenient. Trunk lifts up and just put everything in. It's also great with my dogs and their crate if I need to get them to the vet.
The only reason I would get the accord would be if I got a VERY good deal on it.

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
My parents used to have a CRV---they highly recommend it as they walked away from a terrible crash with no injuries. GL with your decision, they are both great vehicles IMO!

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
we had the same decision to make 2 years ago- I was pregnant with DD at the time and we were ALSO going from a Ford Focus to either the Accord or the CR-V.
I test drove both and did love them.
quite frankly, the CR-V- to me- didn't have more interior room than the accord sedan. I actually think the accord sedan is more roomy.
We have no problem w/ the carseat (have the bigger one in the middle and still people can sit on either side of it).. also the trunk is more than roomy enough- have had it crammed with baby gear AND tons of shopping with no problems.
we took the Accord because we test drove the v-6 and it drove way better than the cr-v which only comes in 4 cyl I believe.
We're actually up on the lease this October (can't believe it's been 36 months) and the Accord did us very well... however by then, we'll prob need to trade up to a Pilot- even the cr-v won't be big enough at that point, God willing.

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
I have a Civic and a CR-V and I also love the Accord. I love the CR-V and highly recommend it.
Have you driven both? I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
ETA - If it matters to you, note that the CR-V doesn't come in a 6 cyl. At least, it didn't when we bought ours in 2007... The Accord does come in a V6.

I wished for a 6 cyl in the crv.
In the end, this last time we ended up with two Camrys. I have to tell you, after 6 Accords, I went to Toyota and I'm not looking back.
Love the 6 cyl Camry. I was always a 4 cyl car girl but I found Honda hard to work with. The CRV while very nice and fun to drive left me wanting more out of the car.
Maybe it's me.

I used to drive a V8 and a 6 Cyl and got no issue with the CR-V. I have no issue merging into the parkways, etc..

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
I have an 08 Accord, and love it. It's spacious. Only complaint is that the back seat does not fold down, there is only a small pass thru.
Not that big a deal for us, but may be a dealbreaker for you.

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
I just got the 08 Accord in July. I had an 05 Accord Coupe before this. I love Hondas because they are safe, good on gas and have a good resale value. I've heard that the CR-V is made on the base of a civic. I had a 2000 Civic and I wanted something bigger.

if it was between the Accord V6 and a CR-V, I would vote for the Accord.

Re: Buying a new car-can't decide
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I'm looking at the v4 for the accord so that's probably why I didn't think anything of the CRV being a v4. I'm not really a car person. My focus is a 2001. I really just need s/t that will last and get me safely from point a to b (without spending more than $20,000-preferably less!)
