buying flower bulbs in 'bulk'
I found a website that sells tulip bulbs in lots of 100 and having them bloom at different times during the summer I have found 6 different ones that I want. We have 50x125 property size... I don't think we have room for 600 bulbs. Where did you get your flowers? We are out in mid suffolk (Holbrook). TIA

I bought mine at Walmart last year and they were so pretty this spring. I had giant and regular crocuses, daffodils and tulips. They all lasted a long time, and the tulips were huge, all of my neighbors were asking me where I got them.

Re: buying flower bulbs in 'bulk'
I used to buy them from whoever was selling in my area. Over the years, I found I wanted different styles, heights, blooming times, colors. So I started looking online and became a customer of John Scheepers and I've never looked back! Every one of the flowers came up, and were true to the pictures on the site. Last year we bought about 200 crocus, daffodil and tulip to start with.
Planting bulbs 6 inches deep is hard and time consuming. You sure you want to start out with such a large number? Not to mention, critters love to eat them so you mayl have to protect them somehow like putting cages of chicken wire around the bulbs when you bury them.
We just dug two wide trenches 8 inches deep, amended the soil, planted the tulips, daffs and crocus at the right heights, and laid a long strip of chicken wire over the top with rocks to hold it down. I fed the squirrels dried corn for a few weeks to keep them away from the bulbs!

John Scheepers is great and if you want to buy in bulk, they have a wholesale business called Van Englen (I think). Great prices, great service, great bulbs.

OT but how is the shabby chic bedroom coming along? Can't wait to see the finished room. It's going to be gorgeous.
