Buying my first articial tree tomorrow- questions

Where do I go?

What do I look for?

How much are they?

Try HD, Lowes, Michaels.

I would suggest NOT getting a prelit one. While I love mine, I do not look forward to the day when those lights don't want to work anymore.

Re: Buying my first articial tree tomorrow- questions

I found it easiest to go along RT. 110.

I first went to Fortunoff's Backyard Store, then Lowe's, a store right at the entrance to Lowe's who's name escapes me, back up to Costco and Target. I had already seen the trees at Michael's and HD on Jericho Turnpike near usChat Icon .

We had a slim line tree but wanted a full, artificial, real looking tree. This is my "forever" (aka at least 15 year tree) tree. I narrowed it down to 2 at Fortunoff's. One pre-lit, one non. IMO they were the nicest 7' ones.

Like the PP said I did not go with pre-lit because I want this tree for a long time and can't imagine the lights lasting for 15 years.

ETA: I was looking for a tree that when bare looked like a real tree... I wanted to see differences in color within the needles of the branches and a real full look.

The 7' trees at Fortunoff's Backyard store started at approx. $300.

We got a 7.5 foot at lowes for $198 prelit. It is perfect in our living room and a pleasure not worrying about puting lights on it. Def check them out. Didnt care for what Home Depot had.

Re: Buying my first articial tree tomorrow- questions

We bought ours 4 years ago after Christmas from Target. It's prelit and we just realized a bunch of lights have gone out this year.

But I want to say it is so much easier. I hate stringing lights!

Re: Buying my first articial tree tomorrow- questions

It depends how much you want to spend...there are some very inexpensive trees, and some very expensive.

The price is usually dependant on 3 things...the height of the tree, the number of branch tips (the more there are, the fuller the tree) and, if it is a prelit tree, the number of lights...

The more tips and the more lights, the more the tree will be...

Same here. I went to all the stores mentioned and found a 7.5' tree at Walmart for $98. I Found they had the best selection for what I was looking for. It is prelit and looks beautiful.

Sorry to say but GOOD LUCK! MIL was looking for trees and all was left were the small flimsy ones...she actually found a beautiful tree at Harrows (the pool place) its a little more expensive but it will last you in the long run.
