Vaccine Questions-ds has his first tomorrow
For those of you that space out the vaccines what are the first two you gave to your baby?
I'm plan on doing 2 tomorrow instead of 4 (but my doctor does recommend to do all 4).
How can I expect my baby to feel after the vacinnes? How long to any after affects last?
Please tell me it's not that bad...I get sick everytime I think of him getting those shots

Re: Vaccine Questions-ds has his first tomorrow
Mason was fine after the vac shots. We spaced them out only b/c I didn't want him to get all needles at once so he'd get two and then I'd go back to the Ped in a week. I always regret coming back in a week b/c then I feel bad he's gotta get them again. I hate it! I feel so bad when the little guy gets shots, but usually right after he stops crying he goes to sleep and fine by the time we're home

DD has not yet (knock on wood) had a reactions to any of her shots. She is herself for the entire day/night after them. I haven't had to giver her tylenol with any of her shots yet. I have a friend whos dc usually does react to shots but they are usually just extra fussy the day of the shots and fine by the next day. Good Luck

Re: Vaccine Questions-ds has his first tomorrow
Ryan actually does really well after shots. He got all his vaccinations at 2 months, 3 shots and 1 oral, and then he got the 2nd dose at 4 months (yesterday) He does get very sleepy afterward, and I keep up with the Tylenol for the day, but other than that he is still all smiles. I think it really depends on the child. Each child has different reactions.

Just 2? I know with just two I asked that another nurse come in and they give them both to AJ simultaneously and she doesnt even wimper. But she's older
When she was smaller the first one was ALWAYS a 'freebie' with no reaction if the nurse is good its quick and she has no clue what just happened. The second one (and anymore) she'll cry.
Pick him up and soothe him. He'll be over it in NO TIME.
AJ was sleepy more than usual on the days she got her shots. I followed my pedi advice and gave her tylenol as soon as she got home.
OH and take off that bandaid before the tylenol. Ugh that's actually the WORST part for me. At least shots are quick, that stupid bandaid is painful!
My kiddo got a big bump at the place of the shot and sometimes it will bruise and it lasts up to 2-3weeks. It freaked me out at first but I was told its normal. She ALWAYS get this when she gets a shot so I'm used to it now. But it looks ugly and painful but it doesnt bother her at all.

Re: Vaccine Questions-ds has his first tomorrow
at Sophia's first vist (6 days old) she got the HepB shot. she cried for all of 15 seconds then when right back to guzzling her bottle
at 6 weeks she got 2 more, not sure which ones off hand but I have it written down. stupid me I didnt have them give them to her simultaneously and I should have. the first one she only wimpered for a second, but the second one set her off! she screamed all the way out of the peds, through rite aid (had to her her zantac filled) and until we got home. then you couldnt touch her legs for 24 hours. shed start SCREAMING bloody murder again. after 24 hours of tylenol, her legs didnt seem to bother her anymore
2 days after the shots she slept ALLLL day which stunk bc it was halloween so she missed most of it

I came up with this trick bc I do a lot of work with the elderly and their skin is SOOOO thin -- put some baby oil on the bandaid and let it sit for 5 mins. it should peel/slide right off
