Buying new furniture
Does anyone else massively struggle when it comes to buying furniture?
When dh and I bought our house, we used my old ikea set for our bedroom, my bil built us a dining table, and we used an old desk in our spare room. Because of this, we only had to buy living room furniture. Since we didn't have a ton of money at the time, it's an eclectic mix that looks nice, but it's also stuff that I rushed picking out just so we would have what we needed.
We're going to redo our bedroom soon, and will be purchasing new furniture. While I don't want to spend a fortune, I do want some nice furniture.
My issue is that I need the following pieces:
Queen bed 2 nightstands Dresser Love seat Desk chair Possibly an end table for the love seat
I feel like I'm going to have to mix and match some, or it will look awkward, but I still want it to look pulled together.
Obviously the dresser/nightstands will be wood
Do I do a wood bed to match? A fabric bed? If I do fabric, do I match the love seat to the bed? What about the chair?
Dh doesn't want a light colored love seat, but if we do fabric I would like a light colored bed.
On top of that, I can't have a bed with a tall headboard-I need like 55" or less.
Suggestions? I've been driving myself crazy!!

Re: Buying new furniture
I prefer a fabric headboard for . I got wooden night stands and a dresser. I went with the highest quality we could afford so it would be our "forever" set. The bench is less expensive. Bedding we replace every few years. I would go to home goods for an occasional chair.

Re: Buying new furniture
I know it sounds weird, but I was in Costco earlier today and they had a bunch of new furniture in. They were nice, quality, solid pieces. Bedroom stuff, chairs, sofas, loveseats, desks, etc. I was surprised. I would check it out! Not cheap, but not super expensive either.

the dressers and end table I would definitely match. The bed I don't think you have to match as much, however, if you go for a wood headboard I would probably get a color similar to the dressers and end table. If this is the case I would think you can get away with any type of love seat that you like.

Re: Buying new furniture
The houzz app or hgtv website have great galleries that you can search in. I would try searching master with loveseat so you can get ideas on how decorators mix and match fabrics and finishes.
Our vacation house master has mirrored end tables and dresser, a leather head/foot board and a linen chair. I think it looks nice. In my bedroom at home I have matching dark wood night stands and dressers and a tufted fabric bed. I don't have any other upholstered furniture in the room, but because everything else is neutral there would be a lot of options.

Re: Buying new furniture
I would do matching dresser and nightstands, a neutral fabric or even leather headboard, then the loveseat in a complimentary neutral fabric, doesn't have to be the same color. This would allow you to add color/pattern with bedding and drapery and pillows for the loveseat. End table for the loveseat I would probably do a small round glass and metal one, to break things up.
Happy shopping.
