I still give DC baby food in addition to regular food and was wondering when everyone else stopped giving any baby food at all.

We skipped baby food all together and went straight to soft table foods at 7 months old.

Ava was completely off baby food at 8 months. The only thing I can say about when a child should be off baby food (within reason, of course) is whenever they are ready. Some kids have a really sensitive gag reflex until they're older, so I can't say a baby like that should be on table food, KWIM? Trust your gut and try some table foods and see how it goes.

6 months for DD.

She had plenty of teeth by then but we started table food and kept the pcs small.
Then she progressed from there.

IMHO, 1 year.

We took DS off it between 11 months and 1 year.

I think it depends. Kids need their nutrition and if they are picky eaters but not with baby food, go with it. DS will only eat baby food veggies but I am just happy he eats them at all and he is 17 months old.

Gavin still eats baby food fruit because he LOOOOOVES fruit and it's a good consistency after table food.....

It's his favorite part of a meal!

I don't think there is an exact time - DS is 15 months old and although he eats tons of table food, no matter what I try he won't eat "table" fruit. I have done everything under the sun....therefore, he eats babyfood fruit just so I know he is getting the daily servings of fruit. Sometimes I give him a veggie too, but fruit almost everyday.

I'm so glad you posted this! DS is 18 months old and he's on table food - but he'll ONLY eat baby food veggies - I'm glad he eats them, so I give them to him!

If you have a picky eater, the baby food is a must. It was the only way we got veggies into DS for the longest time...now he is better and off the baby food but he had jarred sweet potatoes and green beans in addition to table food until he was 2! He liked it, it is the same as regular veggies, just pureed really well!

Re: By when do you think DC's should be completely off of baby food?

DS is on table food, but I keep baby food around for a few reasons ... sometimes I mix either a fruit or vegetable into something (i.e. morning oatmeal, soup stock, pastina). Another reason is when we are having something he may not eat - he won't eat asparagus, so I will give him a container of vegetables. Or if we are out and he's having chicken nuggets and fries, I will give him a container of veg so I don't feel so guilty Chat Icon I think they are fantastic to have around and he happily eats them, so I don't see them going away anytime soon.
